Dropbox Sync Issues - The data file for this entry could not be loaded.

<div class="IPBDescription">Cannot view passwords.</div>So, I shot myself in the foot. I'm getting a major Dropbox error when viewing my passwords. I tried syncing two different 1Password DBs together in one Dropbox before reading how it was a BAD DEAL. Whoops.

The error says: The data file for this entry could not be loaded.

Any ideas? I have numerous backups should I have to revert to a previous database version of 1Password.

    I'm sorry to hear you are having this problem. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_sadsmile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-(' />

What platforms do you have 1Password installed on and how many instances? For example, I read in your other post that you have a home Mac and work Mac. Are you also using iPhones or Android devices? Please let me know and we'll get this squared away.

In the meantime, you can always try double-clicking the 1Password.agilekeychain in Finder to set it as your data file. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />
  • Khad,

Nevermind! For some reason, after restoring the database and going home to my computer it looks like we're back in action. Must have been caching the file on my other computer temporarily? Anywho, I restored from a backup that was good to go and now I'm back and rolling.

Quick question though, do the passwords for Accounts always show? My login passwords are hidden in Dropbox view but not my Accounts. Is this normal?

    Thanks!

    Khad,

Wait. It turns out that my work computer is still giving me the "The data file for this entry could not be loaded." error while using my laptop to access the Dropbox database works. I do am not using the 1Password app for my phone either. Any ideas?

Please make sure that you only have a single 1Password.agilekeychain file in your Dropbox account. It sounds like at least one of your Macs is loading a different data file or looking in the wrong place for it.

On each machine, double-click the 1Password.agilekeychain file in Finder to load it as the current data file in 1Password for Mac.

Please let me know how it goes!
  • Khad,

Yup. I should've read that you can only use a single 1Password DB with a single Dropbox account! That was all my fault there. I think I have it all ironed out. I had some local caching issues so I just cleared all of my browser cache, restored from a backup, and I think we're back in business.

I'd like to throw in another feature request for shared passwords in light of the issue, but 1Password continues to be (for me) the best out there!

Keep making the software and the customer support amazing!

I am glad that everything worked out! We are certainly evaluating different ways to have multiple keychains and/or shared items, but, as you might imagine, this is not a simple undertaking. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

  • Khad,

Absolutely! Especially because it sounds like working from the ground up again. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

    Thanks again!
