1P Last mod and created dates printed on black background

<div class="IPBDescription">1P has Black background so can't see Last mod and created dates</div>1Password's info about when an item was created, and last updated, is virtually invisible on my machine.

This is because the default background for the 1P window is black for some reason, and this info, at the bottom, is printed in dark grey.

Why is the background on all my 1P windows black, and how do I change it so I can readily see these dates...

    Hey Chris,

Sorry you're having this problem. The image you posted is not black but dark grey. Perhaps your display settings need to be tweaked, or if you have an external monitor with its own settings, try adjusting the brightness and contrast controls of your monitor.

I myself am on a MacBook, so it does not have any hardware controls (except the brightness keys on the keyboard), but open System Preferences > Displays to make sure the brightness is up high enough on the Display tab and the correct color profile is selected on the Color tab.

I hope that helps. Please let me know!

(Oh, and what specific model of Mac are you using?)

Also, you can view both date columns by switching to Traditional layout (View > Layout > Traditional) and enabling the appropriate columns (View > Columns). This will allow you to see not only the dates in an easy to read black-on-white but also gives you easy access to more information at a glance.

    Cheers!

    Thanks for your reply, Khad.

I'm not sure why that image was grey, it's normally black as shown in this (new) png, and the 1Password background always shows as black on my screen. This makes the date text at the bottom a real battle to read although you can just about make it out if you squint real hard...

I have an Intel Core Duo 64 bit Mac Mini with 8 gigs memory. Mac OSX 10.6.4. It has two Samsung SyncMaster 1100 large 21 inch CRT screens which were on my previous G4, they're now obsolete.

System Preferences/Displays has no settings to change the brightness of either monitor. So I played with changing these settings on the hardware controls on each screen. Unfortunately, increasing/decreasing brightness and/or contrast made no difference to the visibility of these dates, although it does make the expected changes. I haven't yet worked out how to adjust or use the color profiles, (and would like to know) but they are set the same on both of them.

1P is already in Traditional view, I've included that in the png. Yes, I could add another date column to the columns shown, but would rather have the dates easily visible at the bottom rather than in an unseen column.

Which brings us back to my original question. Why is the background on all my 1P windows black, and how do I change the background color from black so I can readily see these dates? ...

Thanks for all the help, Cris

The additional screenshot you posted is the same as the first and the same as 1Password looks on every modern Mac screen. Unfortunately, I assure you that if you look at the background on any other computer, it is indeed grey and not black. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_sadsmile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-(' />

The Samsung SyncMaster 1100 was introduced about seven years ago. CRTs — especially ones that have been around for a while — can lose their brightness/sharpness/etc. over time. It may be time to get a new monitor. Please do everything you can to adjust the brightness/color of your monitor first, though. Perhaps you have a designer/photographer friend who might assist you in the endeavor, but it may be time to get a nice, energy-efficient LCD panel.

I did scrounge up the user guide for the Samsung SyncMaster 1100. Please note especially pages 26 and following.

I hope that helps. I'm sorry I don't have a better answer for you at this time.
  • My eyes have never been comfortable reading a wide range of text colors on grey(ish) backgrounds, on any monitor. Some sites insist on using particularly challenging "grey on grey" combinations, making a Zap Colors bookmarklet a necessity when the content seems worth reading. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
