Reformatting Macs
Hi guys, every now and then I like to do a fresh install of the OS from my Macs (have 3 and iPhone) all have Dropbox on them as well as 1Password. So, as this is the first time I will be doing this with 1Password on there I want to make sure I do not lose my data. At present I use Dropbox to sync all my 1Password changes. So, if I need to keep the file safe that has all this information, do I just use the last entry in the 1Password Backup folder and then restore from that or, is all the information stored in the agilekeychain that is syncing via Dropbox. I guess I am a little confused on this, so any help would be appreciated.
Just want to make sure I have the latest file and the best way to do this.
Thanks
Mike

Hi Mike,
It really doesn't hurt to back up everything twice and I strongly recommend backing up your 1Password folder in the Home > Library > Application Support. You can even just right (cmd) click on 1Password folder to "Compress 1Password" and have 1Password.zip file ready for you to copy to an external drive for the backup. Once you moved it over, be sure to unzip the file and you can see all the files.
That 1Password folder will contain your license and backups folder.
Be sure to back up your 1Password.agilekeychain file in the Dropbox folder as well.
Once you back them up, you can do the fresh install then. Proceed with installing Dropbox first and wait for it to be done syncing before installing 1Password. Once you install 1Password, it should be see your data file in Dropbox and prompt you to open it. You can manually enter the license via 1Password > Licenses or you can copy over the license folder from the backup (1Password > License) to Home > Library > Application Support > 1Password.Flag 0 -

Mike - Thanks for this. Short, precise and to the point. Will let you know how it goes. Now just finding the time to do it. Hopefully this weekend.
