Windows 7 to OSx 10.6.4

<div class="IPBDescription">Transferring Data</div>I am currently running Windows 7 Professional and have very recently downloaded the Windows Beta version of 1Password and filled in a considerable amount of Data.

However, I plan to buy a Mac very soon which will be running OSx 10.6.4

Will I be able to easily export/import the Data from my Windows machine and import it into my Mac machine running a full Mac version of 1Password ??

    Hi twodogron,

    Welcome to the forums!

How about something better than import/export? You can sync them both (and any other Windows and Mac computers you have) via Dropbox. Set up Dropbox syncing first on the machine that already contains your data. In your case, that would be the Windows machine.

    http://help.agile.ws/1Password_Windows/tutorials.html#setting_up_dropbox_sync

Then when you run 1Password for Mac with Dropbox installed and finished syncing on your Mac, it will automatically detect your data file and use it. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

I hope that helps. Please let me know!
  • Suppose I decide to keep some of my older Windows applications running on my Mac under Boot Camp.

Thinking this through, I may need to use 1Passwords on either my Mac or Windows partitions depending which O/S I'm logged into at the time..........

To eliminate the need to log out and back in again to either Mac or Win it would be nice to be able to access my passwords from either Partition.......

I realise that the Data file would be accessible to Dropbox, but..........

does that mean that I would have to buy two licences, one Mac and one Windows even though 1Password would be on the same machine ??

Maybe I'm missing the point here but seems like an interesting question.....

Dropbox syncing is still the ideal solution whether 1Password for Windows is running in Boot Camp or a virtual machine like VMware or Parallels. Dropbox manages the syncing, so you don't have to worry about read/write access across partitions or simultaneous writes of locked files via shared folders in a virtual machine. Blech.

Our software is licensed per user per platform, so you would need a Windows license to use 1Password for Windows beyond the free 30-day trial.

The good news is that because of what we call our Sane Licensing Model™ you can install 1Password for Mac on as many Macs as you can afford as long as you are the only user. Likewise for a 1Password for Windows license! You can install it in Boot Camp and VMware and Parallels if you want. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';-)' />

The better news is that if you pre-purchase a license for the 1Password for Windows final release right now, you get to use the betas for free and the license is 50% OFF the regular price!

The best news is that Agile loves you. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_bigsmile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-D' />
