cannot login federal student loan site

Has anyone gotten the account login page at https://www.dl.ed.gov/borrower/BorrowerLogin.jsp to work properly? It has four components - SSN, last name, DOB, and PIN. Despite saving, deleting, etc, many times, 1Password never remembers all of them. The 1Password program itself has all the data (but strangely masks SSN and not the others), but I cannot get the forms to fill properly in the browser, both Safari and Chrome tried. Anyone?

Welcome to the forums, vumaverick! I'm sorry you're having this problem.

I'm sorry that you're having this problem. Please try saving the login manually in Safari like this:

    1. Enter your username and password, but DO NOT submit the form.

    2. Click the 1Password button in your browser's toolbar, and choose Save Login.

    3. Set the Action field to Create New Login (or to Replace <login-name>, to update an existing Login item).

    4. Click the Save button.

Using the above technique I was able to save and fill a sample login in Safari at:

    https://www.dl.ed.gov/borrower/BorrowerLogin.jsp

Manually saving a login can be useful for logins that are either problematic to begin with or were once working but have since stopped. Doing this allows 1Password to refresh everything it "knows" about the page. Login pages often change as websites are updated and this can be a necessary but very useful tip. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

If you are still having trouble, please take a look at our "Website Login Issues" guide.

Note especially that editing the login to change the Submit value from "If Autosubmit is ON" to "Never" works on a lot of sites which modify the form before submitting it or are looking for a literal key press or mouse click. This will give you the chance to actually give them what they are looking for by submitting the form yourself rather than allowing 1Password to do it on your behalf.

I hope that helps. Please let me know.

    Thanks!

Thank you for this response. I will try this when I get back home to my mac. Meanwhile, on windows machine, I tried using firefox and internet explorer (after turning autosubmit to OFF, as you suggested), and it works on both. It continues to NOT work on Chrome, so I think this may be more of a Chrome extension issue, rather than a 1Password program/website issue. I'll confirm later at home that it works on Firefox/Safari but not Chrome for the mac. I note that on both FF and IE, the plugin operates by opening a separate dialog window, whereas the Chrome extension seems to operate differently (but consistently between mac and windows versions). Not sure if that's an issue or not.

It is a Chrome issue. The Chrome extension was a from-the-ground-up rewrite, so there are some areas we are still working to improve, but soon it will surpass the other extensions and we will be using its code everywhere. We're not there yet, but feedback from users like you helps us get there. This is on our radar! <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />
