font choices
Hello,
I had posted this in one of the earlier versions of the forums. I'm very happy with 1Password. There is one thing that I hope you will address as it makes me go back to the system keychain still. I would like a clean mono-space font as a choice in the secure notes. I'd suggested a few options in the previous message and some other people chimed in with what they liked and didn't like in the choices. One of the 1Password developers was also engaged. This is about the only thing that gives me problems with the product. Maybe make it a hidden settings so support wouldn't get may calls on it. Maybe even make it something that would need to be manually edited in a plist or something. I (and others it seems) need a font choice that clearly distinguishes between similar looking characters like some mono-spaced programmer type fonts do.
Thanks

I would just like to second this request and expand it to include the Username and Password fields in Logins.
Today I had a problem because in one Login, there is a capital "O" in the Username (9 characters) that is clearly distinguishable as such. In the Password (12 characters), though, a capital "O" there looks like a zero (much more compressed).
I had to copy out both Username and Password and paste them into Word to see the difference.
This is not the first time I have had this or something similar happen.
Thank you,

Definitely! I'm (too) often regenerating passwords multiple times in 1P to avoid using ambiguous looking characters (anywhere).Flag 0 -
That's never good, sjk, we're definitely looking into a better font choice for usernames and passwords in a future update to 1Password, I don't know if that will be a 3.x update or part of the eventual 1Password 4 update.
Thanks for the feedback from yourself and DavidB, it's good to know that this is something many people want to see.

Pun intended? <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />
Not too a high priority for me since it can be tediously fun regenerating passwords until spotting easily readable ones to pick/use. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />Flag 0 -

For me it's a problem whenever I have to manually key a stored password or give a stored password to someone else on the telephone. Sometimes my passwords are generated by someone else so I don't always have the choice of making sure they have no unambiguous characters.
It doesn't happen every day but it's a nuisance when it does.

Same here, which I've at least worked around with newer manually generated passwords. But …

I've still got got plenty of tough-to-read older pws in 1P that I don't necessarily feel like changing.

Yup, sometimes it's a nuisance with my older pws.
It's a bit like stubbornly obfuscated CAPTCHA codes, e.g. several I botched yesterday with Google Apps before finally getting one right. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />
Ideally, of course, all pws would be more easily readable for everyone in 1P with no reason for any workarounds. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />Flag 0 -

While this isn't a reason for us to not offer a fixed-width option in 1Password, you may want to consider changing your passwords more frequently. And, oh, don't even get me started on CAPTCHAs! <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
Seriously though, I really like this idea (in theory.) I'm sort of a curmudgeon, so I've always been a fan of fixed-width fonts. I hope you guys don't mind me lumping you all into that camp with me. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />
This is something that we have considered, and may implement at some point. The main concern is making something like this non-intrusive (i.e. not soiling[sup]1[/sup] the UI), but also intuitive enough to allow everyone to benefit from something like this (i.e. not a hidden preference.)
While I can't say for certain that this is a feature we will add, it may be something we can toy around with while working on 1P: TNG[sup]2[/sup]. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
[sup]1[/sup] I had meant to type "spoiling," but I really liked how this turned out. Freudian slip? lol
[sup]2[/sup] Couldn't resist. hehFlag 0 -

More than I already do with those that deserve it? <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
I have too many to regularly change [i]all[/i] of them. For most (e.g. forum logins) a specific reason (e.g. site compromise) is sufficient to motivate changing. I could be more motivated to change less legible older ones that I encounter. Those I do change/create have been legible enough for awhile.

Too late? <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />
Those Google Apps ones were the worst I can remember having so much trouble with for a long time, with even more muddled audio playback (in Safari). <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />Flag 0 -
+1 for the ability to change to at least a good monospaced font!
I have some secure notes with username passwords that I keep for ssh access to things and the crappy font used now makes it very difficult to tell the difference between characters (o/), 1/l, etc.) I'm going to have to switch to saving these notes in another app - when I'd prefer to just use 1Password.
Please provide the option to change to at least one monospaced font for secure notes.
Thanks!Flag 0 -
[quote name='khad' timestamp='1304725106' post='26468']Thanks for the feedback, rickcr! Perhaps this is something we can look into for a future update. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />[/quote]
Okay, this is now the future and there have been several updates since your post. It (the lack of a monospaced font for various fields, including Login Username and Password) is still a problem in 3.5.9. Has it been addressed in whatever is the latest version?
Today it bit me again when I had to give a password to someone over the telephone. After a great deal of frustration and wasted time, I realized that what clearly looked like a zero turned out to be a capital "O". (I had to copy the password out and paste it into Word to see the difference.)
I know you have bigger fish to fry right now, but this is still a pain.
