From iPhone to Android

Hello,

I’m switching from iPhone to Android using 1password. How can I load the data form the iPhone app into the Android app? The iPhone app only generates a backupfile. This file is not found/accepted by the Android file.

Is my wish possible? Please advise.

Kind Regard

René

    Hi René,

Yes, it is absolutely possible to move all you secure data from iPhone to Android assuming you have

1Password for Mac/PC installed on your computer.

You can easily download the applications from Agile website http://agilewebsolutions.com/downloads.

Once you have the application installed on your computer, you can place the 1Password data file inside of Dropbox

and will be able to synchronize your secure data from iPhone to your computer and then from computer to your Android phone.

Please let me know if you need more info.

    Best regards,

    Gene

  • Hi Gene,

thanks for your response. I’ve tried this, but the Android programme is looking for a different file then the .1ptbackup generated by my iPhone. It is suppose to find a ws.agile.1Password.settings or keychain file.

Should I rename the file generated by a 1Password on the iPhone? The backup is the only I can generate

    greets

You can not use the backup file generated by 1Password on your iPhone. You have to install our desktop application for your Mac or PC, sync your data from your iPhone to 1Password for Mac and then either copy the 1Password.agilekeychain file or use Dropbox to sync it back to your Android device. Dropbox is required for the Windowsversion of 1Password.

  • Hi Mike,

    Thank you for helping out.

I work with the PC version and did as you explained, except that my iPhone is not showing in the programme. It’s active in the same WiFi environment as the iPhone. Can you tell me what I’m doing wrong?

    Hi René,

I'm sorry about the confusion, 1Password for Windows only support the Dropbox Sync. You need to follow the Dropbox Sync guides to set it up.
  • Hi Mike,

I’ve already seen these screens and the only thing I can do here is import from Dropbox into my iPhone. I’d like to export from the iPhone to Dropbox. Am I missing something?

    Hi René,

I hope Mike will guide you through Dropbox setup and provide more details on how to do that.

I just want to notice that iPhone does synchronization both ways. It means that your data will be moved from iPhone to your computer and

from computer to iPhone during the same syncing session. All your items created on iPhone will be available on your computer.Next, you will have two options

if you want to see your data on Android phone:

    1. Manually copy 1P datafile (1Password.agilekeychain ) from your computer to your phone's SD card through USB port.

2.Synchronize your Android phone with your computer and to get data loaded onto your Android phone.

I wrote a detailed help on 1P4A application use ( if can see it if you open Menu->Help on 1P4A).Hope it will be useful for you.

In addition,if you need more info please email me on my support account android-support@agile.ws for personal guidance.

    Best regards,

    Gene

  • Hi Gene,

I think I just saw the light <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> after you mentioned that the syncing works both ways. I’ve put the master keychaine in the Dropboxfolder and it did synchronized both ways! Then it was a piece of cake getting it on Android.

Thanks guys for the splendid support!!
