Quick question - the knox stores its files in documents/knox by default.

If I have Filevault activated then that location will be part of an encrypted system already... is it ok to have an encrypted file container (or sparse bundle) saved in another (filevault)??

thanks heaps. andre

Hi, Andre, and welcome to the forums. Yes, it's certainly safe to encrypt data multiple times like this. The encryption algorithms don't much care what the data is. They just decrypt it and then spit out the result. :)

Andre, you can also tell Knox where you want new vaults to be stored. Just use the Knox > Preferences > General pane to choose a different location.
