We definitely haven't given up on Android - we've still got to get to 1.0! <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' /> I don't know the exact development status, but Gene's been working on it. Maybe he can shed some more light on the current status.

    Hi bondza,

First of all, welcome to the forum and thank you for your interest in 1P4A !

Yes,here at Agile at the very end of 2010 we are thinking about future development goals for 1P4A as well as other Agile products.

At this current stage, the application works well as a capable fully functional 1P data reader.

I completely agree with you that the next logical step will be making 1P4A a fully functional application allowing creating/editing data and synchronizing changes

with computer in both directions ( in other words to make 1P4A similar if not better to its 1P4iOS sibling).

In the same time, please keep in mind that 1Password for Android is only one of the products being built by Agile Inc.

Future development plans, time frame and schedules depend on our company's goals and directions as a business organization, product marketability,

user community acceptance, cost consideration and other critical factors.

I feel confident that 1P4A has a great future (I am a huge fun of Android OS).However, our management team should still review Agile corporate goals and

decide on how 1P4A fits in the development plans for the year 2011.

We will definitely keep you and all 1P4A customers updated on any future plans, so please stay tuned.

Happy New Year to you and all 1Password for Android customers !

    Hello Gene and crew,

Hope you guys had a nice holiday.

Its been a while since I have posted and wanted to share something that has gradually been happening to me.

Over the last 6 months or so I find myself going to my laptop less and less. If I am sitting on the couch or on another floor in my house I always have my phone on me. To research a topic, look up a phone number and even check financial balances.

The more this goes o nthe more I have to remember or make a note to go to my laptop and change the passwords on there so I have them on 1Password. I even have a note app with a "temp pw " title so the ones I change I can update on my Mac at a later time.

At first it was a little bit of a bother but now I would say frustrating.

So I am writing now to say please don't stop until two way sync is established. Please, please.

    Thx,

  • Hi Gene:

First of all, let me say thank you very much for the work that you've done so far with 1P4A. In fact, the entire 1Password suite of applications is absolutely outstanding!

Having worked in the cell phone industry for years, I've found 1Password to be one of the apps that I am always recommending to Customers. I personally find it invaluable, as I have 1 Mac, 3 Win 7 machines, 1 Linux box, 1 iPhone, and 1 Android device, and keeping the passwords synced among all of them would be a nightmare without 1Password. I feel that even those users with 1 device could benefit from such an incredible application.

With that said, I sincerely hope that you have the time (and backing from Agile) to pursue completing 1P4A soon. I've recently switched from an iPhone to an Android device as my primary mobile phone, and I (and I believe all Android users) would benefit from the ability to save new passwords and other features that I'm sure would find their way into the 1.0 final product. I must say that I'm a bit surprised at Agile's decision to pursue a Win 7 app before finishing the Android app, based on the popularity and sheer number of Android devices out there. I would venture a guess that I've sold 100 Android devices for every 1 Win7 mobile device sold, and I hear similar stories from others in the mobile industry. Having a fully functional Android app to go along with the wonderful iPhone app would be putting Agile in a position to have it's application on over 80% of all new smart phones sold (and the subsequent revenue from the sale of the desktop applications), instead of the approximately 5% (or less) that Win7 mobile devices make up.

Either way, I just wanted to relay my gratitude for all of the work that you've put in. 1Password is an awesome application, and I look forward to the day when I can have the finished product on my Android device. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

  • The Android app and Chrome support are the reasons I bought 1Password for Windows today <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' /> I have been a very loyal user of eWallet since 2001 (!) on my iPaq, strayed to SPB Wallet for a short while, then went back to eWallet when they released version 7.

However two factors finally forced me to look further. First, their absolute refusal to support the best browser in the world (Chrome). And second, their non-existent Android support. eWallet has an Android viewer app, but they force you to physically connect your Android to your computer EVERY TIME you want to sync your wallet! Wired connections are so......... 2001! But, it's really not nice to badmouth the competition, so let's just say it was time for me to move on.

Yesterday I found 1Password, installed the demo and Android app, and fell in love. I did not hesitate to buy the full product today!

  • I just moved to an HTC Inspire from an iPhone 3GS. I bought the 1Password app on the iPhone. Loved the product on that platform because I could maintain my logins/passwords _on_ the device and backup to dropbox. I am not allowed to put applications on my work computer, so now have no way to maintain/update my passwords. I see that people have been asking for this 2 way synchronization for over a year and no progress other than words.

The Android platform is clearly here to stay, it has a large share of the market and Gene has said he loves it. What else is needed to allow the 1P4A to update/create entries? Without a solution (not words) I will be forced to spend my money elsewhere and that would be unfortunate for both of us.

    Hi Scott,

Of course, making 1Password for Android a fully functional stand lone application is a next logical step to do.

However, as I probably already mentioned before, the final decision is made by Agile Management Team and is based on the

market conditions, user acceptance, cost considerations etc.

At this time I am not able to give you a definitive answer on exact future plans for the application.

Once I have it, I will immediately share it with all 1Password for Android customers.

  • I sincerely hope that editing will be added to the Android version soon. Without it, in my opinion, the app is pretty much useless. This is the only app which makes me carry my Ipod Touch everywhere I go. For me 1password is an app I cannot do without. I don't want to look for another app, but I would like to have one that works on the Android (not the handicap state that it is in now). Sell it for 1$, 2$, 5$, 10$, I don't care, just make it a real app.

First of all, thank you for the good words about Agile product family.

I don't think that 1Password for Android is useless as it stays today. It gives you an option to see all your private data

on your Android phone and have it synchronized with your computer.

Many thousands users have the application on their phones and use it on regular basis.

Of course, making a stand-alone application is a next logical step.

I will definitely let all 1Password for Android users know when we are going to move the application that stage.

  • The mantra "The good news is that stand alone version is currently in development so, please be patient..." since April 2011 is getting old. It is now August 29, 2011. I understand that your company is basing on market conditions, user acceptance, etc. but remember, we the users also based our decision on how fast you are able to come up with the next version, and when it is not forthcoming, we turn elsewhere.

Hi SprintUser, welcome to the forums.

I'm sorry that you feel frustrated about this and you want to look at elsewhere. Please understand that the 1Password for Android is a not a simple development, we can't just simply take 1Password for Mac, iOS or Windows, put it right on Android and expect it to work. Not only that, we also risk your security integrity by not ensuring that every line of code is secure to use on the Android platform. Every platform is different in how it handles encryption and decryption of your data and we have to be absolutely sure that it does not affect your data in any way.

If we rush it, our user experience on Android would be horrible, buggy and data can be stolen if we're not careful.

We're doing everything we can to get this ready as soon as we can.

you feedback is very important for us.

Thank you in advance and best regards,
