Partial import of mac passwords into windows

I am trying to import 324 logins from my Mac to my Windows laptop using the 1Password Interchange file. All 324 logins appear in the 1Password Win database but only a small number actually have login or password data. The other strange occurrence is that as its importing sometimes the counter will get to as few as 20 something, sometimes to as many as 100 something, but never to the full 324 entries before it reports its done importing. After each attempt, I delete all the database entries and try again. I've even uninstalled 1Password on the Win laptop, deleted the database but to no avail. I haven't tried the Dropbox sync yet but I'd like to know why the interchange file doesn't work. Thanks in advance.

I just tried this with my own data and had similarly disappointing results:

    1Password for Mac

Exported 222 items, of which 145 were Logins, counting 1 in the Trash.
1Password for Windows

Imported 145 Logins. (1Password for Windows currently imports only Logins.)

They all went to the Logins vault. I would've preferred the trashed Login to be either ignored or imported to the Trash.

Over 60 had no information in any of the fields, except for the Title.
Conclusion

We clearly have a lot of work to do on the importer. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />
Fortunately, Dropbox sync'ing will definitely provide satisfaction. We apologize for the inconvenience.
  • Hi there!

I'm doing something similar, posted here

Just copy the entire *.agilekeychain folder/file from one device to another.

Some information seems to be missing, like tags, but anything else seems to be ok.

Hope this helps, let us know!

Thanks for posting that tip, at3mlos! That is completely correct because 1Password for Mac and 1Password for Windows both read/write the same data format. This compatibility is why Dropbox syncing works flawlessly.

Note that tags aren't technically "missing" from the copied data; they're just not displayed in the current version of 1Password for Windows.

For a bit of background, please see Why doesn't 1Password for Windows look like 1Password 3 on my Mac? in the FAQ section of the user's guide.
