Syncing with Droid & other questions

New to 1 Password.

Droid - v 2.2.1

Win 7 Home Prem.

Finally able to place my keychain in the correct Dropbox path on my PC so that my Droid sees my passwords.

But ..

1) I added new passwords (I am on my the PC). When I went to the app on the Droid and synced - No new passwords.

Why not? what happened?

2) Why do none of the "New Folders" I created in the desktop version do not show on the Droid?

3) Why when logged in the 1Password (browser version) and then go to the desktop version do I have to enter

my master password again?

4) When in the browser mode and go G-Mail - I have to click on the 1Password icon in the browsers tool bar.

Should not 1Password know I am at the Gmail site and automatically sign me in?

5) (When in the Desktop program) How do I move newly created logins into say "Wallet" or "Software" ?

If it makes any difference, I am am still in the Trial mode.

Thx

    Welcome to the forums, Seth!

I can answer three of your questions. For the first two, I'm going to move the thread to the 1Password for Android forum, where you'll get expert assistance a little more quickly.

    3) Why when logged in the 1Password (browser version) and then go to the desktop version do I have to enter

    my master password again?

Please see Why is the 1Password data file locked? in the FAQ section of the user's guide.

    5) (When in the Desktop program) How do I move newly created logins into say "Wallet" or "Software" ?
Because the "vaults" (Logins, Wallet, Software, and so on) reflect the item type, and each item type has specific elements, 1Password currently doesn't support moving items among vaults.

1Password for Windows offers the same functions before registration as after, except for limiting the number of saved items to 20 before displaying what the developer calls the "nag screen."

I hope that helps, at least on 3 through 5.

Oh, thought I was in the Android forum section.

RE: Please see Can 1Password automatically detect a form and fill it for me? in the FAQ section of the user's guide.

Hope I can remember the Ctrl + \ short cut.

Too bad the screen does not automatically come up where on some sites I may have 2 log ins.

Still have to click on the drop down.

OKAY - Now getting sync failure msgs on the Droid.

Something about Java.net (but Java Runtime is current, so it can't be that).

So glad I am still in "Trial" I am usually pretty good with this stuff -

    but this application baffles me.

    I have a solution -

Try Splash ID, by Splash ID.

I don't work for them, but I just found it and it works fine. Its really only a app to store passwords.

One problem - I wish it would login in the Droid, just like 1P does in the browser on my PC.

I'll check back in on 1P in a few months and if out of beta then, then will give it another go.

Seth, please stop posting these questions in multiple places. It doesn't help anyone get you an answer faster, but it does create confusion and unnecessary posts to wade through. As I mentioned in my reply to your email, I've contacted Gene, our Android developer, and he will answer your question shortly. Thanks for bearing with us.

Just so you know, I need to delete your other posts containing the same questions, I'm sorry. I'm leaving this one because it was the first one.

    Hi Seth,

First of all, thank you for your interest in 1P4A !

In its current version there is no folders in 1P4A, secure items you've created are grouped according to their

functionality, such as Logins, passwords,Notes and so on. We will be introducing folders in the next application releases.

I am not sure why you want to move Logins to Wallet or Software, not sure if it is logical and helps to

search and retrieve your items quickly. Afraid it may create confusion if you do it by chance.

I hope that Dave and Rob already helped you with your questions regarding 1P4W, let us know know if more info is required.

I already forwarded you an answer on your 1P4A question from my android-support account, please let me know if you need further assistance.

    Thank you and best regards,

    Gene

    Hi Seth,

I suggest you to find a file contents.js located in the <%DATA_FILE_LOCATION_ON_YOUR_PC_OR_MAC%>/1Password.agilekeychain/data/default

folder. Please open this file and examine how many items you have here: the same items you will see on your Android phone.

This file is maintained for the purpose of 1P4A and 1PAnywhere and is absolutely required for 1P4A to work.

If you don't see your newly created logins listed in this file, it may be an issue with 1P4W which we will need to address.

I thoroughly tested this functionality on my PC 1P 4 Win Build 1.0.0.122, everything worked great. Please let me know which version of 1P4W you use.

Next, please rename this file to contentsOrig.js or any other name. The file contents.js will be recreated with all your items.

Then you can sync your computer with Android phone and see all your logins.

Please let me know if this approach works for you or you need more info.

    Best regards,

    Gene

Hmmm, should not the file be in the dropbox folder?

ok found the file (<%DATA_FILE_LOCATION_ON_YOUR_PC_OR_MAC%>/1Password.agilekeychain/data/default )

    in the drop box folder.

Renamed - now get a sync failure on the droid. Either due to a network settings or failed to find

    1Password.agilekeychain in the dropbox root

    Hi Seth,

A file .ws.agile.1Password.settings is located in the root directory on your Dropbox and it points to the correct location

of your 1P data file. (notice that the file may be hidden from view, so enable "Show hidden files option" on your PC/Mac)

The file is absolutely required for 1P4A and 1P4iOS in order to find a 1P datafile inside of your dropbox.

It is created by 1P for Mac/PC immediately after you place your keychain inside of your Dropbox.

It contains just one line: a path to your 1P data file location.

The file is hidden, so please ensure you have a "Show hidden files" option turned on.

If you still don't have this file, please place 1Password.agilekeychian file/folder into the root (topmost) directory of your Dropbox.

1P4Android will find it here by default even if .ws.agile.1Password.settings is not available (which , strictly speaking shouldn't be at all).

Please let me know if you need more info.

    Regards,

    Gene
