Whole Disk Encryption (WDE)

I am currently using PGP WDE to encrypt by hard drive (on MBP 2.93 C2D, 4GB RAM). I am not entirely comfortable with the software (I can't put my finger on why, it just makes me feel that way) and it is probably overkill, but I am also similarly uncomfortable with FileVault. What I do like the idea of it by boot drive being wholly encrypted.

I have read the FAQ on the Knox support site and it refers to WDE, but I get the impression that this is WDE of other derives (i.e. external ones like time machine) and not the boot drive. Does Knox do WDE of the whole boot drive? If so, would it be a good idea or alternative to PGP or FileVault?

Hi, macgeekwig, and welcome to the forums.

Since Knox uses OS X's disk image mounting capability, you will not be able to encrypt the boot volume with Knox as OS X is required in order to open the .sparsebundle images that Knox creates.

Thanks for that! I will stick to PGP for now, but I will remain an avid Agile supporter for 1 Password, All Bookmarks and anything else you produce.http://support.agilewebsolutions.com/images/smilies/emoticon-0137-clapping.gif
