Owners of family licenses for either Mac or Windows
<div class="IPBDescription">Just complaining or requesting</div>I have had 1Password for Mac ever since it was released. I bought the family license and have either 1 or 2 licenses I have not used. My wife has a Windows laptop that her kids bought her. We are on Social Securty and do not even make enough between the 2 of us to live decently.
What I would like to do is get 1Password for Windows on her laptop, and use one of my licenses to register hers.
Try to remember that only Wall Street got the billions of dollars, and foreign banks too. We have not even gotten cost of living raises for 2 years. SO ... buying things that logic should say we already have is sort of illogical. Can I use one of my Mac licenses to put 1Password on her PC laptop?

Please forgive the delay, Wally.
Most of the team has been at an off-site meeting for several days, and it'll take us some time to get caught up. One of us will be in touch as soon as possible.
Thanks for your patience!

David, I have sent you one email, which contains all of the emails and communication that I have had with agile. It should verify that I am a valid family license holder.Flag 0 -

I want to thank Dave Teare for his intercession in this for my wife and I.
If you are looking for a password program that actually delivers what the authors say, then you are in the right place for sure.
1Password is the best I have ever used, and I have tried just about all of them that looked to be good, including RoboForm and others.
Thank you Dave.Flag 0 -

All I can say is I am an old senior geek, and have done small IT jobs for my church, and my family. I keep all of our computers (Apple and PCs) running smoothly. Of course I prefer a Mac and am praying that somehow I can manage to get my wife one. Less OS problems, and better stability.
I guess you could call my opinion here as that of a semi-pro. I also have quite a bit of time in studies of electronic technology, and worked for both Western Electric as an equipment tester and did a two week stint with Bell Labs as an assistant engineer during a WE summer break. My training goes farther than that also. I just wish my eyesight was as good as it was 20 years ago.
Thanks ... to all of you at Agile.Flag 0 -

I must admit to being a tad disappointed when I contacted Agile Support recently and asked a similar question as to whether I could bundle a Windoze 1PW in with my unused seats of my Family 1PW (Mac) license, only to be informed this was not possible as I have to buy them seperate! <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' /> ie individual/family license for Windoze… Yet AWS seem to offer bundles for Mac/Win (but only for Family license for both it seems!) Doesn't seem to be anyway for existing longterm customers with Family 1PW (Mac) license to upgrade to Mac/Win bundle license?
However I can't really condemn them for this restriction as their product and support is otherwise superlative and has been for years! <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /> So I'll bite the bullet and simply buy an individual 1PW Win license and hope I don't need the flexibility of needing more than 1 Win VM image on my Macs at any one time in the future! <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />Flag 0 -

Sorry for the disappointment and confusion, Horseman.
Your 1Password for Mac family license isn't a "five-pack"—like a dozen eggs—but a special license that lets up to 5 family members in the same household install and use 1Password on multiple Macs each. If 2, 3, 4, or 5 of you had 100 Macs each, on which each of you were the only 1Password for Mac user, they'd all be covered by that family license.
A 1Password for Mac license won't activate 1Password for Windows, though. There are two ways to do that: buy a "bundle" license (either single-user or family) to begin with, or add 1Password for Windows to your "license portfolio." If you write to us at support@agile.ws, we'll be happy to help with the latter, because you've already purchased a 1Password for Mac family license. All you'll need to do is decide whether you want a single-user or family license for 1Password for Windows.
What we haven't done in the store is to bundle a single-user license for 1Password for Windows with a family license for 1Password for Mac (or vice versa). We probably could, but then we'd have less time to spend making 1Password a better product.
However I can't really condemn them for this restriction as their product and support is otherwise superlative and has been for years!
Thanks, Horsemen. We really do try.
So I'll bite the bullet and simply buy an individual 1PW Win license and hope I don't need the flexibility of needing more than 1 Win VM image on my Macs at any one time in the future! <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />
As long as you're the only 1Password for Windows user on all those VMs, Horseman, your single-user license will cover you: you can install and use 1Password for Windows on all of them.
As always, additional users require additional (or family) licenses.
I hope that clears things up.Flag 0 -
I appreciate your time and patience and no doubt it's simply both a comprehension problem and misuse of licensing terminology solely on my part….
I guess on reflection I should have perhaps simply asked is there an "Upgrade Option" on 1PW3(Mac) + 1PW(Win) bundle for existing longterm 1PW3(Mac) users.?
That is instead of say paying $49.95 for 1PW(Win) Family license it's slightly less perhaps for existing Mac users….?
I think you're now saying No…..?
You then mention "licensing portfolio" which I'm sure is a separate issue to my original question but probably explains why my Customer Centre doesn't show my recent 1PW nor older Knox purchases?
On that note I've actually now bought a Single 1PW(Win) license anyway in order to finish testing ( I recently lost access somehow to the beta) before considering my options to upgrade (although that might in itself pose another issue) to a Family license!
I guess I was so impressed with AWS's refreshingly versatile approach to a more realistic licensing paradigm that allowed me to buy 1PW2 license in 2007 then upgrade to 1PW3 in 2008 then upgrade to Family in 2009 that I naively assumed the same/similar concept of flexibility would also apply in the future? <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />
Whilst appreciating the "refresher" on AWS's 1PW licensing model I can confirm that is indeed my understanding and use. My only comment is that while a "demo" does allow a generous 30day fully functional trial that is more than adequate for 99.9% of potential customers this is of course "elapsed" time and not always convenient for the odd "plodding" geriatric like me with exceedingly poor time management that has to spread sporadic (typically 15days worth of) testing over several months.
(As like the gentleman who's thread I've now hijacked - after 30yrs in IT you cannot imagine the potential pain inflicted on one's body parts let alone the verbal abuse and bruised ego if any one of the family has any sort of issue with hardware or software I've supplied on their behalf that doesn't quite live up to their unrealistic expectations! <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /> )
However AWS's proven track record of product quality and superlative support means I've no hesitation in buying a single license in order to complete any testing anyway even if some members of family eventually have to (or decide to) stay with our original RoboForm licenses for some of the remaining Windoze scenarios we can't yet migrate to Mac!
My thanks again for your time and apologies to the Reverend for usurping his thread… <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />Flag 0 -

Technically, an upgrade would be a new version (like going from 2.x to 3.x) of software you already have (like 1Password for Mac). What I think you're wanting is to buy a new piece of software, 1Password for windows.

As I wrote, there's no option in our online store. As I wrote to you and RevWally, though, we'll be happy to help; but you'll need to contact us at support@agile.ws, so we have an e-mail address with which to find you in our records. We can still help, if you'll drop us a line.

Sorry—I just used that term to refer to the collection of licenses you've purchased from us. If you contact us at support@agile.ws, we should be able to consolidate your records so they're all visible in the Customer Center.

Again, we can help with the existing purchase, the move to a family license, ior both, f you're interested.

Yes - I can say I'm truly covered …. with an unexpected mixture of egg-on-face for me <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /> and amazement for both of us?
If nothing else it proved two things (not that the first really needed proving <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /> ):
1. Agiles sustained and consistent ability to delight and surprise the customer no matter how convoluted and poorly explained the question/complaint/suggestion.
2. The customers innate ability to shoot himself in the foot by forgetting what he'd bought previously and exactly what he was testing last week let alone back in Aug 2010! (Was it really that long ago and is my time management really that bad? <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /> )
Many thanks for your assistance and resolution and apologies to all at Agile and here for any time wasting distraction I may have caused.Flag 0
