<div class="IPBDescription">Allow users to input product registration information in 1Password</div>1Password is certainty one of the greatest applications for storing sensitive information. That why this next idea would make a really great feature addition to 1Password. I have an iMac, Macbook Pro, a Mac Mini, an Xserve, two Macbooks, a Macbook Air, an iPod Touch, an iPhone, and an iPad. I also have a whole bunch of internal and external harddrive. I even recently added a drobo to my collection of nice hardware. The problem with having all these different items is product registration. These were all bought at different times and offer different warranty lengths.

The computers have a 1 year hardware/90 day phone support (extendable to 3 years total)

The portable devices have a 1 year hardware/90 phone support (extendable to 2 years)

Some harddrives have a 3 year limited warranty, while some have a 5 year.

I would like to see 1Password include a device registration mode which allows you to add each of these devices. Add as much information (specs, model numbers, serial numbers, warranty information and expiration. Even include a phone number to contact for support. If anything were to happen, such as a fire or a device being lost; you would have all these serial numbers saved in 1Password. It would also provide an easy way to check when you're warranties are about to expire.

The nice thing about this feature, is you can use the existing template to create this.

Attached is a quick mockup of what the menu could look like.

I use Mactracker for all that, but the data is unencrypted (without some hassle to (un)protect it) and of course is yet another "database" app to fuss with.

    Mactracker is cool ,

We use to have a poll about the product registration it received a fair amount of votes, but I haven't heard anything about it in a long time <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />

Well worth the price (free) if only to waste time playing the Startup/Death Chime sounds. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

    Welcome to the forums, sonny.mactech!

As Tommy mentioned, this feature has been suggested before, but it's not made it to the official to-do list as far as I know. For now, you can store information that doesn't have its own home in a Secure Note. You can even add related files as attachments if you need to keep them secure.
