vBulletin login problems

<div class="IPBDescription">disable autosubmit</div>I am having a problem filling in the username and password on some forums that have a search text field right above the username and password text fields. When I click the 1P button in the browser and choose Fill and Submit, 1Password fills the search field with my saved username and doesn't fill the username and password text fields. Instead of logging in, I end up viewing search results of my username.

This problem occurs with the forums at macosx.com on both Safari 5.0.3 and Firefox 3.6.13 with Mac OS X 10.6.6. I get the same problem with the forums at MacRumors.com on Safari, but the fill in works correctly on Firefox. What can I do to get 1Password to fill in the username and password correctly on the forums I visit?

Hi, Mark, and welcome to the forum!

I don't know what's causing the issue, but I've reported it to the developers. We are currently working to improve 1Password's form-filling to fix little things like this, but I don't know when it will be done.
  • Thanks for the answer, Rob. It must be a pain trying to get form filling to work for every website.

    Tell me about it… <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

When we get it, though, we're gonna get it good!!
  • I'm having the same problem. Strong Password Generator filled my username and password with the same string. I'm not bothered by it, but I do need information. I'm assuming that my username was not really that easy to change. Can I simply change it to what it should be in the edit window of 1Password? I probably should just give it a try, but I hate login hassles, so I thought I'd get reassurance first. Thanks

Welcome to the forums, Sally. I'm sorry that you and Mark are having this problem. Please try saving the login manually like this:

    1. Enter your username and password, but DO NOT submit the form.

    2. Click the 1Password button in your browser's toolbar, and choose Save Login.

    3. Set the Action field to Create New Login (or to Replace <login-name>, to update an existing Login item).

    4. Click the Save button.

Using the above technique I was able to save and fill a sample login in Safari and Firefox at both sites.

Manually saving a login can be useful for logins that are either problematic to begin with or were once working but have since stopped. Doing this allows 1Password to refresh everything it "knows" about the page. Login pages often change as websites are updated and this can be a necessary but very useful tip. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

Please also take a look at our "Website Login Issues" guide. Note especially that editing the login to change the Submit value from "If Autosubmit is ON" to "Never" works on a lot of sites which modify the form before submitting it or are looking for a literal key press or mouse click. This will give you the chance to actually give them what they are looking for by submitting the form yourself rather than allowing 1Password to do it on your behalf. I found this to be the case on both login forms (as they are both using the same vBulletin forum software).

I hope that helps. Please let me know.

    Thanks!
  • I wanted to report that my issue was fixed in version 3.7.2.
