Feature request--help for when you forget master password
<div class="IPBDescription">I don't want to have to start all over ...</div>I just read in the FAQ that I will be simply out of luck if I ever forget my master password and will have to start from scratch entering all my 1Password info. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':o' /> Why is there no help for this situation? Can't there at least be a way to verify ID and create a new password? A series of security questions, maybe?

Hi, Caroline, and welcome to the forum!
The reason there is no other option is that your 1Password data is encrypted, and it is only accessible if you have the Master Password to decrypt it. If we provided a "back door" to get access to your data, that would be a security hole that criminals could exploit to steal your data. We recommend that if you think you might forget your password that you write it down and store it somewhere *extremely* safe, like a bank vault. That way, if you ever do forget it, you'll be able to access it with your personal identification. We could never identify you as accurately as a bank can, so we think that that is the best approach.
