1password Windows/Firefox plugin update. Please fix

<div class="IPBDescription">New format for Firefox plugin is a step back for functionality</div>Guys,

The new style plugin for Firefox is terrible. Please change this back to what it was before.

I have been a long time user and customer of 1password for Mac, iPhone and iPad. I've purchased 1password for friends as gifts. I purchased 1password for Windows as soon as it was out of beta.

I use keyboard shortcuts heavily. I love 1Password OSX's ability to do a separate keyboard shortcuts for SEARCH and FILL LOGIN.

On Windows / Firefox, I don't have this option. I only have one keyboard shortcut to bring up one menu. But I could at least (before the update), quickly hit TAB 3 times to go to the search field and type my search and quickly go to the website and login. My hands never have to leave the keyboard.

Now with this latest update, I can't do this. The search function is now a separate menu, I can't TAB to it. I need to remove my hands from the keyboard and use the mouse to select SEARCH. This is a huge step backwards for fast keyboard shortcut users like myself. Really, it's almost like removing CTRL-C as a copy function and requiring everyone to use a mouse to Paste. It makes no sense from a usability standpoint.

I use Quicksilver/Launcbar for OSX and Executor for Windows. So I rely heavily on very fast keyboard shortcuts in my workflow, this change (for no reason other than appearance that I can see) really does break this functionality for me.

Please address this, or at least let me use the old plugin. Or even better, allow a separate keyboard shortcut for SEARCH.

I can't stress how much this last change ruined the user experience for me. Enough to request a refund if I can't get it fixed. Really, I don't understand the purpose of this change other than to make it look "prettier" ... Function was sacrificed for looks here.

I LOVE 1password on all my computers and devices, I try to sell it to people every change I get, I just can't stand this last "update" It makes no functional sense to me. Please fix bring the old one menu back. Or implement a separate shortcut for SEARCH. That would be preferable. But I'd be happy with the way it was before.

Sorry for the rant, but I feel like I bought something that I loved and you guys broke it for no reason other than appearance. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />

    Instead of Tab, press Ctrl+F

We recently introduced credit card filling. We couldn't add this to the existing window without a re-design because without tabs, it was getting over-crowded (read: over-complicated).

Thank you very much, Stefan for your quick reply. CTRL-F does work. I wasn't aware of this so this makes the change more bearable.

EDIT: Sorry, I take that back. CTRL-F works for the search BUT when I then hit ENTER, I get an "error beep" from windows. Same if I try clicking on the selected item. So I can search using CTRL-F but I cannot select the item to go to the web page. It just beeps if I hit ENTER, and doesn't do anything if I click on it. This was after going to the search menu by going CTRL-F. So unfortunately it doesn't work

Could you please add an ability to customize this shortcut in a future release (like how you allow us to customize the 1Password menu shortcut)? Doing so would almost bring parity between this and the OSX version. I could then quickly do something like alt-\, alt-] with my right hand and start typing.

And thank you for addressing why you made this change, it makes much more sense. Not having referenced any upgrade notes, to me it seemed like an unneeded change that hindered functionality. I understand the reason for it now.
  • zentype, welcome to the forum!

You can easily customize the keyboard shortcut on the Logins tab of 1Password preferences.

There is currently a bug filed that describes the need for Ctrl+F to change to the full Find tab, which includes the Go & Fill button. As soon as that's fixed, you'll be able to use the results of the search. We apologize for the inconvenience.

    Thanks for your patience!
