Eve Online
<div class="IPBDescription">Anyone into this?</div>I did a trial a few years back, and ever since then I've been obsessed with Eve Online. Over the holidays, Steam had it on sale for 5$ and it was (quite literally) like Christmas.
I'm not sure if this is something I would play continually for years, but I'm enthralled with the open-ended, explorative nature of this space sim. So I thought I'd give a shout out and see if anyone else in the community here is into this. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

I'm likely going to give the trial a go. I'm not much of a gamer any more but I did enjoy WoW for quite a while.Flag 0 -
I've played WoW for years, and I love it; EVE, on the other hand, is sort of its polar opposite. As far as I can tell, the only thing they have in common is the Massively Multiplayer Online part. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
EVE is very much the anti-gamer's game. In a lot of ways, it's a great escape from the explosions, flash, and twitchiness of today's Bruckheimer game landscape. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' />
If you do want to do a free trial, I can send you a 21-day (I think the standard free trial is two weeks.) The only thing I hate about EVE (HATE!!!) is that the tutorials inexplicably are 5-10 mission-long chains that expire a week after you talk to the agent that offers them. Fortunately, the community is friendly, and GMs are helpful and able to reset the expiration so you can complete them.Flag 0 -

It in fact is 2 weeks for the trail on steam for EVE online, I tried It when it came out on steam but was confused on what to do at the start and died somehow? I stopped playing ever since...Flag 0 -
Indeed. When I did my trial two years ago my story was similar. There is so much to learn and explore that I found it easy to get lost, but -- honestly -- that's a large part of the appeal for me. I haven't actually managed to get myself killed yet, but I have lost a good many ships. But that doesn't seem as bad, now that I've learned about insurance. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />
It seems like the help and tutorials have come a long way since I first tried EVE, but it remains a very complex system. It really is a universe. The only way I've managed to figure anything out is by being attentive and asking a lot of dumb questions in the chat channels. I love WoW, but after playing that for so many years it was almost uncomfortable getting friendly replies to my queries in EVE. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' />Flag 0
