problems installing 1P. on Dorpbox

<div class="IPBDescription">installing problems from Mac to Dropbox</div>1Password for Mac works well on my Mac but on Dropbox there are problems ,because I get 4 file's for 1P. instead of one.

In Dropbox it looks as follows:

File1) 1Password html --- problem loading 1Password.

,, 2) a --- default.

,, 3) config --- bultnum.

domains

newsletters

use thumpnails

File 4) data --- default

I tried to install again ,but it did not work. I got the same programme and problem again.

What I did was to remove 1Password app. ,out of the list with programm's, to the dustbin. Thereafter I installed 1P.again, but I got the same problems again.

Please can You help me ,and give me step by step instructions how to desinstall compleatly 1P.on my Mac and and install again 1P.

I gess that this will be the best solution of is there a better way to get Dropbox good installed?

    Welcome to the forums, wil!

What you are seeing is completely normal. 1Password's data file is a "bundle" which is shown as a single file in OS X but as a folder (which contents you are seeing) on the Dropbox website.

I hope that helps. Please let me know.

    Thanks!
  • Khad is completely correct. But just to be clear, was there a specific issue that you were trying to troubleshoot when you noticed this apparent file discrepancy, Wil? Just wanted to be sure that everything's working well for you.

Also, the typo you made in the topic title made me smile. I wish there were really such a thing as Dorpbox! Maybe it could be cloud storage for all of our funny typos. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
  • Thanks for your answers, but I'm 71 years old and not verry handy with the PC. and the english language is also a problem for me as a dutchman.

I'm glad that you told me that everything is normal.

But I want to be sure that every stap is OK, before I take the next step.

    My next question is:

On my MacBook 1P. is OK ,in Dropbox on my other MacBook 1P. is OK , but in Dropbox on my iPhone it does not work.

In Dropbox on my iPhone4 , if I go to the 1P. file, I get after clic 1Password.html , in red- Problem loading 1Password data file , in black- A key data file could not be loaded and 1PasswordAnywhere cannot continue without it.

How do I have to solve this problem ,before I take the next step and instal 1P. on my other MacBook and on my iPhone4.

Please tel me step by step what I should do to get the whole thing working well.

Ps. I bought already 1P. for iPhone and iPad and is now waiting for installation.

    Hi Wil

You cannot view the 1Password.html from mobile safari (ex the iPhone). You also cannot view the html file from the dropbox app. The error you describe affects us all.

To get the passwords on your device just install the 1P app and perform the dropbox sync setup from inside the 1Password app and you will be good to go. The password file will download to the device.
  • Thanks,

1Password works now well on my iPhone4.

But I have still two other questions:

    1) If I login via 1P.on my MacBook, I get instantly the logged Side.

If I login via 1P.on my iPhone4 ,I get on the side with the completed credentials (username and password) and I have to clic to login to get the logged Site.

Is this difference of log normal?

    2) I'm still out on how on my second MacBook 1P.installation, coupled with Dropbox 1P.?

This is normal and is due to apple limitations with the browser, I am sorry its not better we would all like the same experience on the mobile browser but cant <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />

I am just assuming here that you are wanting to know how to get the 1P installation to see the keychain on the second Mac.

Open the Dropbox folder on the second Mac. Find the 1password.agilekeychain.

    Double click it

1P will ask if you want to switch to this keychain select yes

    Your all done.

Open the Dropbox folder on the second Mac. Find the 1password.agilekeychain.

    Double click it

1P will ask if you want to switch to this keychain select yes

    Your all done.

Too bad it does not work.

I will give below a list of my actions and what happens:

    Dropbox on my second Mac.

    In dropbox to folder documents

    In documents to folder 1Password-wil

In folder 1Password-wil to folder 1Password.agilekeychain

In folder 1Password.agilekeychain (double click has no result) to four folders, namely : 1Password.html , a , config and data.

Double click 1Password.html opens 1Password Anywhere who ask for Master Password.

After completing Master Password opened 1P. , but in Dropbox and not on my second Mac.

What is wrong and how to recover, so I have 1Password installed on second my Mac.
  • Wil,

What you're describing sounds like you don't have 1Password itself installed, hence why you're not seeing the normal behaviour when you double-click the 1Password.agilekeychain file.

Can you make sure you download the latest version of 1Password from http://agile.ws/downloads and then install this by dragging the 1Password app from your downloads folder to your Applications folder. If you then launch 1Password it should detect your data file in Dropbox and ask you if you want to use this.

    Hope that helps,

  • 1P.does not work on my second Mac and I can not imagine myself in the Dropbox folder 1Password.agilekeychain four folders sitting.

I'm working on this for some time and do not succeed my second Mac installed.

But I have little computer knowledge.

The error I believe I've made, that during installation ,of 1P. from my first Mac to Dropbox, I dragged the 1P. folder ( in Dropbox ) inside another folder in Dropbox.

The best now to do seems to me everything , completely to uninstall and reinstall on my first Mac and on Dropbox.

If you agre're both 1P.on my first Mac and Dropbox to completely uninstall everything.

All data c.q.programs of 1P.should therefore be delated on the first Mac, including the hard disk, before I 1P.install again.

I would very much like a roadmap from you how to do,the uninstalling.

If the above occurs then again I can just use the authorization number of the old installation 1P.Agile, which I was awarded my previous installation?

1P. on my iPhone4 can stay or should there be something changed ?

There should be no need to uninstall anything, Wil. If 1Password is working for you on one Mac, we can get it working on the other Mac as well. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

To help us track down the issue more quickly, could you please email us your Diagnostics Report from the first (working) Mac? To generate the report from 1Password on your Mac, open 1Password and select Help > Troubleshooting > Diagnostics Report. Then attach the entire file to an email to support@agilewebsolutions.com.

Please do not post your Diagnostics Report in the forums but do include a link to this thread so we can make the mental connection when we get your email.
