Dropbox Synch Doesn't Work After Moving Agile Keychain

Hi guys, sorry to bother you again. I've been moving to 1Password and have resolved all my issues except one. I want to use 1Password on my Mac iMac and MacBook Pro and so I configured 1PW to synch via Dropbox. When I first set Dropbox synching up, synching between my desktop and laptop worked great. However yesterday I decided I wanted to move my Agilekeychain file out of my top-level directory on Dropbox into a "1Password" folder that sits at the top level of my Dropbox folder. I first opened up Dropbox on my iMac desktop and went into Preferences > General > Data File and clicked Move... to move the Agile keychain into the new 1Password folder. I then went to my MacBook, opened Finder, navigated to the new folder in Dropbox, and double-clicked the keychain file so that 1Password would know to use it. 1Password seemed to recognize it and everything looked good. However, since then I've noticed that if I make a change to 1Password on my desktop, that change is not replicated via Dropbox to my laptop unless I go to 1Password Preferences > Advanced and click the clear cache button. That's the only way I can get 1Password on my laptop to bring down the changes from Dropbox. And yes, I do wait until Dropbox synchs to my laptop before opening 1Password. Also, I just now went into my Dropbox and permanently deleted the old Agile keychain file that but that hasn't made any difference. Do you know how I can fix this problem?

Thanks again.

Guys, any idea on how to resolve this issue? Your help would be greatly appreciated. This should be the last time I'll need to bother you as everything else seems to be working fine.

    Thanks!

I occasionally have the cache problem, you could try disabling the cache go to the 1p pref > advanced tab and uncheck use cache.

Please note mine is disabled and sometimes this also fixes non showing data. I cannot reproduce it on a regular basis, and a while back some of where talking about it and none of us could reproduce it on demand either.

Maybe one of the others has some ideas but I did want to let you know, you are not alone and I also have the issue although infrequent. Most times after a reboot I no longer see the issue.

ps Also Try double clicking on the keychain from both Macs again this will not hurt anything.

Maybe the full sync had not completed. Just speculating on this.
  • Have the same problem. Created a 1Password folder in dropbox and moved the keychain there and it didn't work. Then moved it to the root directory in Dropbox and it worked fine. The 1Password documentation seems to be wrong about being able to put the keychain in a subdirectory of Dropbox.

When you refer to syncing are you referring to the iOS app.

If so check the hidden pointer file on the dropbox website and or show hidden files on the Mac and check the location which is in plan text on the pointer file. Its called
.ws.agile.1Password.settings
Mine looks like this
1password/1password.agilekeychain
if you move the data file, you will need to launch 1Password for Mac or Windows at least one time in order for it to write a new .ws.agile.1Password.settings file which will correctly point to your data file in whichever subfolder you have placed it. Mine is two subfolders deep with a couples spaces and an ampersand in the folder path. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />
