1Password will not sync to dropbox

<div class="IPBDescription">Dropbox</div>I am syncing across 3 platforms - my mac, my pc, and my android phone. Dropbox is awesome and works flawlessly. But 1 password is intermittent. Unless I reassign the keychain preferences constantly to get it to recognize a change it wont kick down new entries to my keychain.

To be clear, lets say i am in 1password and i create a wallet item at 9:00 PM today. I close the program. Well i should expect to see the changes immediately in my dropbox folder (as a change to the file at the same time. And consequently, on my phone once i sync.

This is not the case. It simply does not work. I need this fixed, or a solution, otherwise the program is only 50% effective.

  • Ok, after much frustration and after immediately posting this i found out the solution.

The fact is, there is a "proper order of operations"

I was under the impression that dropbox syncing happened automatically. Thats is how it is spun BOTH on the 1password side and the dropbox side. It is NOT automatic. So i know know i must do things in this order:

    1) Make change in 1password

    2) Open dropbox on phone. Wait for sync.

    3) Open 1password, sync.

    4) Reload 1password.

I finally see my data synced! As for the date/time stamp confusion, those cant be trusted, because the dates/time stamps occur in the inner folders, and not on the high level parent folders like is typical in windows.

Anyway, fixed, but I assume many others will get frustrated for the same reasons....i thought it was automatic.

It is automatic, but sometimes you have to wait a moment for Dropbox to "sync up".

    Welcome to the forum, mattwill!

Please not that step 2 is incorrect: You do not have to launch the Dropbox app on your iPhone for Dropbox to sync your 1Password data between 1Password for Windows on your PC and the 1Password app on your iPhone. You don't even need to have the Dropbox app installed on your iPhone. The Dropbox app is not involved in the sync process in any way.

Once you've set up Dropbox sync'ing in the 1Password app on your iPhone, the 1Password app communicates directly with the Dropbox service, and it does so automatically every time you launch the 1Password app on your iPhone or tap the Sync Now button on the Dropbox Sync page of Settings in the 1Password app on your iPhone.
