Problems with Firefox 3 after upgrade

<div class="IPBDescription">1Password not working in Firefox 3</div>After I upgraded to 1Password for Mac ver. 3.5.4 ( build 30852), 1Password no longer appeared in Firefox (ver. 3.6.13). I'm running OS X ver. 10.6.6 (Snow Leopard). I followed the instructions found in a couple of threads.

I tried creating a new profile for Firefox. No luck.

I started by removing all extensions (1Password > Preferences > Browsers) and then installed all extensions. No luck.

I then uninstalled and reinstalled both Firefox and 1Password. After that, I had a little better results in that 1Password at least appeared in Firefox both in toolbar and when I right-clicked. However, that's all it does is "appear". Clicking on any item in the 1Password toolbar does nothing. Same thing when I right-click on a field... it shows 1Password but clicking on it does not give me any options. 1Password does work fine in other browsers (Safari & Chrome)

This is very frustrating as Firefox is my primary browser. What can I try now? Should I try an older version of 1Password or do you have a beta version I can try to see if that resolves these problems?

Thank you.

Jan

    Welcome to the forums, Jan!

I am terribly sorry that you are having this trouble.

We have recently made a whole host of improvements to our extension handling code. Please try upgrading to the latest beta version (Preferences > Updates > Include Beta versions), quit your web browser(s) and then:

    1. Open 1Password

    2. Open 1Password's Preferences to the Browsers pane

    3. Click the "Remove All Extensions" button

    4. Click the "Install All Extensions" button

You may find you have very different results with the beta version! (I am hoping you do.) <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

If you are still having trouble, could you please email us your Diagnostics Report? This will help us track down the issue more quickly. You can generate the report from 1Password on your Mac by clicking the Help > Troubleshooting > Diagnostics Report... menu item and then attach the report to an email to support@agile.ws.

Please let me know how it turns out.

    Thanks!
  • This did not resolve the problem. I've sent you the Diagnostics Report via email.

FWIW, I have just about the same setup (programs installed) on my MacBook Pro and 1Password works just fine in Firefox. I'm wondering if there is a conflict with one of the Firefox Add-Ons? Could that cause 1Password not to function?
Hi Jan,

I’ll look for your DR and get back to you on this but try the following and see if it works:

    1. Make sure Firefox is not running.

    2. Launch 1Password from your /Applications folder

    3. Click 1Password > Preferences > Browsers

    4. Uncheck the box next to all versions of Firefox

    5. Launch Firefox and click Tools > Add-ons > Extensions. Make sure that 1Password is *not* listed.

    6. Step #5 is the most important step so I'll repeat it again here, Launch Firefox and make sure 1Password is not there.

    7. If 1Password is appearing in the Extensions window, click the Uninstall button on the 1Password extension and quit Firefox.

    8. Return to your 1Password window and check the box next to Firefox. There are two versions: 3 and 4. Pick the one that you have installed.

    9. Restart Firefox and click Tools > Add-ons > Extensions. Make sure that 1Password is listed.

Let me know if you see anything weird like different versions of 1Password extension in the Add-On Manager.

I had the same problem and wanted to confirm that the steps above fixed the issue. Thanks.

    Welcome to the forums, Lackeye!

Thanks for updating the thread to let us know that worked for you. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

    Cheers,
  • The last suggestion worked just fine. I now realize why I was having problems at work but not at home. At work, I had installed both Firefox 3 & Firefox 4 (still in beta). I only had Firefox 3 installed at home.

Thank you for a great product and great customer service.

Thanks for letting us know, Jan! Working is always better than not working. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_bigsmile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-D' />
