When I'm disconnected from the internet will I still be able to access by Notes and Software licenses etc. when I have moved my 1Password.agilekeychain to dropbox?

    Yes,

Dropbox is actually a special folder on your hard drive that gets synced, when off line you can access anything in it. Once you regain internet access any changes you made while offline will be synced to the cloud and the other computers you have synced with DB.

I'd appreciate a clarification of using DropBox for 1Password on the iPhone. Obviously, all the 1Password data must be available even when the iPhone is not on the Internet (e.g., info in Secure Notes while in non-WiFi planes). But according to the DropBox info on the iPhone, I have to set the "Favorite" button for any file that I want to be cached locally on the phone.

The problem is that the 1Password.agilekeychaiin on the iPhone's DropBox is a folder, not a file, and when the folder is selected it simply opens down into the subfolders within the keychain (e.g., 1Password.html, Archived Items, a, config, data, sync, etc.)

So, exactly what do I need to flag as a DropBox Favorite in order to assure all 1Password functionality even if I'm out of Internet contact?

(I'm using the latest versions of 1Password all around.)

    Thanks.

    Hey Jeff,

To answer your first question, you do not the Dropbox app installed on your iOS device in order for 1Password to sync via Dropbox. All the code necessary for Dropbox syncing is stored within the 1Password app on your iOS device. Of course, you can still use the Dropbox app on your iOS device to access other files in your Dropbox folder, but you don't need it for 1Password. In fact, you actually can't view your 1Password data from within the Dropbox app on your iOS device. Our 1Password iOS apps are currently the only way to access your 1Password data on your iOS device.

Tommy is correct that all of our 1Password products store a local copy of your data for offline use. While 1Password uses the Dropbox cloud service for syncing, 1Password itself is not a cloud service but a locally installed app for full offline access on Mac, Windows, iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, Android, and Windows Phone 7.

The Sync Conflict Resolver will automatically appear in 1Password for Mac if any conflicts are present. Simply check the appropriate box for each item or use the action button ("gear") in the lower lefthand corner to "Choose All from…" your Mac or the Dropbox version at once. Then click the "Resolve Conflicts" button.

I hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any additional questions. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

Khad, that was an exceptionally clear and complete explanation. My thanks.

A further thought: I want a family member to share this agilekeychain. Because they do not share all the folders in my DropBox I assume the best way to do this would be to put the agailekeychain into its own subfolder within DropBox. First, is this the correct way to accomplish the goal?

If so, then I have to deal with the fact that when I told 1Password to move the agilekeychain into DropBox, it placed it at the root of the DropBox. So if necessary for the sharing, can I move the agilekeychain into a folder within the DropBox and then share that folder? Or is there a better way to just share the agilekeychain between two DropBox users who each have their own DropBox account?

You are quite welcome! I hope I can be equally as helpful in my following response(s).

    Yep. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

Right. You will need to move the file manually. The "Move to Dropbox" button is to simplify things for users who are not comfortable using Finder. Just quit 1Password for Mac, move your data file into a shared Dropbox folder, and then relaunch 1Password for Mac.

It sounds like you know exactly what you are doing. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_bigsmile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-D' />

Music to my ears! Wait. Eyes? No. That's not right either.

In any event, I am glad that everything is working well. That is always good news! <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

Thanks for the kind words. The best compliment we can ever receive is the endorsement of our [s]satisfied[/s] ecstatic users.

    Cheers!
