Random Website, password CHANGE to 1P-generated

<div class="IPBDescription">Entered old password, and used 1P to 'generate new'</div>I enter old password into the Change Password field, place cursor in the 1st of 2 new password fields (second is 'confirm new password') and used 1P to 'generate' new password. Then I selected to replace the old password in 1P. When logged out and then went back to the subject site via 'go & fill', it didn't work.

So, is there a method for going into my established internet accounts and changing them each to randomly generated 1P passwords?

As noted in the user's guide, 1Password "matches" web forms with your saved Logins by comparing URLs. If you save a Login on a site's "new account" or "change password" page, it's almost certain the Login won't have the same URL as the site's "login" page, and it's a good chance the Login won't work on the site's "login" page.

Here are the basic steps for updating an existing Login with a new strong password:

Log in to the site.

Go to the site's "change password" page.

Generate a new password, and fill in the "old password" and "new password" fields as needed.

Submit the "change password" form.

Log out of the site.

Go back to the site's "login" page.

Enter your username and the new password.

(You can typically use the Fill Last Generated Password button.)

Submit the login form.

Accept 1Password's offer to update the existing Login for the site.

If it doesn't offer, for some reason:

Visit the "login" page again.

Fill in the username and new password again.

Click the 1P button in the browser's toolbar.

Click the Save Login button.

Select the Replace Login-name option.

I hope that helps, e.
  • Yes, I did exactly that (used Fill Last Generated Password on my subsequent visit to the URL).

I saved with a new name NokiaOvi, and deleted the login for Ovi.

    Thanks,

    e
  • e, it sounds like you already knew the "method for going into my established internet accounts and changing them each to randomly generated 1P passwords." <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
  • DB,

Will you post the link to the User's Guide for 1P for Windows.

    Thanks,

    E
  • There are four easy ways to get to the 1Password for Windows user's guide:

In 1Password for Windows, press F1.

In 1Password for Windows, choose Help > 1Password User's Guide.

On our web site (agilewebsolutions.com), click on 1Password, then Windows, then User's Guide.

Click here. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
