Folders vs Smart Folders

I want to add folders ... for airline, hotel frequent flyer/stays numbers ... and don't understand difference between folders and how they would apply to me.

    I don't see any help for regular folders but they can be generally anything you want to use them for, similar to Finder folders. Compare with:

    Like Playlists and Smart Playlists in iTunes, you can either add items manually to a [regular] Folder or have the contents generated dynamically based on search criteria for a Smart Folder.
