Welcome to the forums, Fred. I'm sorry that you're having this problem.
It sounds like your 1Password installation may be damaged, which would be affecting browser integration. Even if you have performed some variation of this already, could you please follow these steps carefully?
1. Download 1Password from our web site:
http://agilewebsolutions.com/downloads
Click on the "Download Now" button under "1Password 3"
2. Quit your web browser and 1Password, if it's running
3. Open your Applications folder and drag 1Password to the Trash
4. Install the new copy of 1Password you just downloaded
5. Run 1Password and then your web browser
Your information is stored in a data file separate from the application, so it will not be harmed by this procedure.
After 1Password has been reinstalled, please quit your web browser(s) and then:
1. Open 1Password
2. Help >Troubleshooting > Reset Folder Permissions
3. Open 1Password's Preferences to the Browsers pane
4. Click the "Remove All Extensions" button
5. Click the "Install All Extensions" button
Unfortunately, I was not able to find your Diagnostics Report in our email support system. Did you send it from an email address different than the one you used to sign up for the forums? (That was all I had to go on.)
If you are still having trouble, could you please try resending us your Diagnostics Report? This will help us track down the issue more quickly. You can generate the report from 1Password on your Mac by clicking the Help > Troubleshooting > Diagnostics Report... menu item and then attach the report to an email to support@agilewebsolutions.com.Flag 0 -
I am also having the same problem.
It seems as though the Safari extension is no longer installed. Everything is working great in Chrome and Firefox.
I've tried all the steps you have mentioned above. Still no 1Password in Safari. It's been a while since I've had to troubleshoot 1Password. Where does it get installed at for Safari? It doesn't exist in /Library/Internet Plug-ins/ or in ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins/ or ~/Library/Safari/Extensions.Flag 0 -
I'm sorry that the above steps did not work for you, Brant. The 1Password Safari extension should not be located in any of those locations. It is loaded from ~/Library/Application Support/1Password/Extensions/

I’ve also experienced this problem a couple of times recently. To resolve it to date I have removed and reinstalled the extensions, which seems to work. If it happens again, I’ll do as you suggest and reinstall the application.Flag 0 -
Thanks for the info khad.
Sorry for the late response. I guess I didn't have the option on that automatically subscribes me to the posts I comment on. I turned that on now.
Looks like whatever was causing the issue has now been fixed on the lates update (3.5.8 Beta 1). I just was double checking everything and noticed Safari's extension was now showing up. After launching 1Password, it says I was updated to the new version. I looked through the change log and don't see anything related to my problem. Kind of weird, but appears to be working now.
Will report back and send a Diagnostic report should it happen again.Flag 0 -

Looks like the latest update has returned my problem of no Safari extension. 3.5.8 beta 4 build 30879 is not working in Safari. The 1Password extension will not show up as before. Firefox and Chrome work fine. I've tried uninstalling all extensions and reinstalling. No luck.
I did notice that it seems like 1Password is now starting to keep versions of the extensions. Under ~/Library/Applications Support/1Password/Extensions - I now have 30868, 30871, 30875, 30879.Flag 0 -
HI Brant,
Can you reset the folder permissions, then log out, log back in and see if that’ll help:
1. Quit Safari
2. Open 1Password
3. Click Help > Troubleshooting > Reset Folder Permissions
4. Log out and then log back in or you can restart your Mac
5. Run Safari and see if it’ll work now.
Flag 0 -

Thanks Mike. That seems to have done the trick. I'm hoping this problem gets solved and I will not have to do a reboot on every update.Flag 0 -
On behalf of Mike, you are quite welcome! <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />
We are still tracking down the cause of the this issue which is affecting a small number of our users, but we hope to have a fix very soon. We believe it is related to 1PasswordAgent not being loaded properly by OS X. A restart should resolve. In the meantime, you might want to stick with the stable release track as the beta channel is obviously updated much more frequently and in your case may require such a restart with each update.
Please let me know if there is anything else I can help with.Flag 0 -

Thanks. I know you guys are always on top of it.
I'll stick with the beta. I know I'm going to have problems now and again with the beta. Still like testing the betas and finding the bugs.Flag 0 -
Wouldn't you know it? The latest beta specifically addresses this issue. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';-)' />
From the 3.5.8.BETA-5 changelog:
Changed the way the 1PasswordAgent is configured to ensure it is always started.
I guess it is wise to stick with the betas after all. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />Flag 0 -
Same problem on MacBook Air. Safari extension working fine until 3.5.7. Then disappeared. Did not come back on 3.5.8. I have done every one of these suggestions and I have simply copied my 1Passwords extensions folder from my iMac where it is working correctly with 3.5.8. No change. No working Safari extension on my MacBook Air. I am sending my diagnostics report to support with a link back to this post.
No diagnostics report sent as MacBook Air install of iPassword 3.5.8 would not generate Diagnostics Report. Same steps on iMac produced report no problems. Related?Flag 0 -
Hi CreagB,
This certainly sounds like it could be all related, and from what we've seen in support e-mails it looks like this could be an issue with the 1Password Agent itself. This should have been fixed with the 3.5.8 update, in most cases, but let's try a manual fix.
If you quit 1Password and any browsers and then go to ~/Library/Application Support/1Password and delete the 'Agent' folder and empty the trash this will remove 1Password Agent. You then need to restart your Mac and launch 1Password again, this normally should get Safari up and running again. If not, please try reinstalling the browser extensions by first quitting any running browsers and then going to 1Password > Preferences > Browsers and clicking 'Remove All Extensions' followed by 'Install All Extensions' and then restarting your browsers.
Please let us know how that goes.

Yup, that did it. Quit 1 Password and Safari. Trashed Application Support/1Password/Agent and Application Support/1Password/Extensions. Restarted 1Password, Uninstalled (redundant, I know) and then Reinstalled Extensions. Restarted Safari. Yeah! Button in toolbar, key in menubar. Diagnostics Report ran correctly. All appears to be fixed.Flag 0 -

Looks like this issue has been fixed. I've successfully updated to 3.6.0 beta 1 and beta 2, and still have my Safari Extension. Great work guys!!

Thanks for the update, Brant! I'm glad everything is working for you now.
We did indeed make an important change to increase robustness but a few other forum posters are still having some issues so we're not quite out of the woods yet. Hopefully we can figure out the remaining edge cases soon.Flag 0
