• Hi dbn,

I'm sorry for the trouble here, I've just tested this on my own iPad, running 1Password Pro 3.5.7 and I could get both my name and a (obviously fake) library card number to fill in to the correct fields.

Can you make sure that you're running the latest version of 1Password on your iPad by going to the App Store and selecting the Updates tab. Once you've done that please make sure that the login form looks something like this by editing the Login item on your iPad:

    website: https://ecatalog.wclibrary.info/patroninfo

    name: your name

code: your library card number in full

Also, make sure that each of the two fields is set to a 'Standard Field' rather than username / password by changing the options in the right hand column of the item's properties.

    Hope that helps,

Sorry to hear that didn't work for you, dbn, I've just checked the App Store and 1Password for iPad 3.5.7 is now available. Our amazing iOS developer wizard, Roustem, has been working hard to improve form filling in the updates, and as I could get a fake login up and running with this version could I ask you to update first and then trying again.

If that doesn't help, let me know and I'll try and guide you through exactly what I did to get things working.
  • Ok , went into apps and downloaded 3.5.7 the results were the same

dbn, this is very strange, 1Password for iPad and 1Password Pro share the same codebase, except that 1Password for iPad doesn't include the iPhone version of the app. So, based on that, you should be seeing the same results as I am.

Could you check you have the login item configured exactly like this, obviously with your own details in place of my fake ones:

    We'll get to the bottom of this, I hope <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

    Hi dbn,

I edited your post out as I’m not sure if it was your actual ID, it is not a good idea to post your private information here.

Try deleting the Login (copy your library code first) and then create a new Login in 1Password on the iPad. Tap “+” in the Logins section to create a new Login, type in the following information:

website: https://ecatalog.wclibrary.info/patroninfo
name | <your name> |
code | <your library code> |
Like Stu here, I do not have any issues auto-filling on the web site and I used both 1Password Pro and 1Password for iPad 3.5.7. Make sure you restart 1Password fully to see if that’ll help.

It is very important that the fields in the first column — the text in grey to the left of the information you have provided — are edited from "username" to "name" and from "password" to "code" in your login item. You can tap the word "username" in grey and change the text to "name" and do the same to change "password" to "code" so that your login looks identical in the leftmost column to the login Stu posted above:

  • It looks exactly as the above. I think this might be something deeper. One of my other accounts started doing this too after some period of time and It had been working fine.
Hi dbn,

I’m sorry but we haven’t been able to reproduce this. Can you also tell us the other site, it might help us figure out what’s going on here.

Have you try restarting 1Password completely or rebooting your iPad? It might help.
  • yes the site is another library. This site use to work fine until fairly recently. Then started doing the same thing

    site is

    library.gcpl.lib.oh.us

    name username

    code 1xxxxxx

Could you post a screen shot of your logins (with your actual data removed)?

You can take screenshots by pressing the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously. This will take a picture of your screen and save it to your Photos app. You can attach them to a reply here. (You will need to email the screen shots to yourself and post them from a Mac or PC.)
  • I am having a similar problem of the Name field being repeated in the "minutes to stay logged in" box which in turn, unless I manually clear this field, causes login failure. I am using an Ipad 2.

Here is the login page -

    Welcome to the forums, MikeSh!

I just saved the login on my Mac from within my browser (where 1Password can "learn" the names of all the fields) and then synced it to my iPad. Unfortunately we cannot integrate directly with Mobile Safari to automatically "learn" the field names on the iPad, so if you are using 1Password for Mac or Windows, saving the login in your desktop browser will be the simplest method to get a working login.

If not, please edit your login to look like mine (attached). Note especially that the text in the first column (in grey) needs to be edited.

Replace "myusername" and "passwd" in the second column (in black) with your actual username and password.

I hope that helps. Please let me know how it turns out.

I tried that. Made sure the left column entries (in grey) were edited as you said and even tried changing the right column on the "user" line as both "username" and "standard" field (as you showed it) but still it places the username in the timeout box.

Just to make sure I follow what you said can you confirm that I type "Login" where you show it?

Think I'll have to save up and buy 1Password for PC. (Win 7)

Thanks for the screenshot, Mike. I see that it is obviously not filling correctly. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_worried.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':S' />

I haven't tried logging in to the site since I don't have an account there, but the fields are filling correctly. Could you post a screenshot like the one I shared above of your login while in Edit mode? Again, please ensure that your username and password are changed to something other than the real username and password.

    That would be most helpful!

I just want to make sure that the field names are set correctly. I can't seem to reproduce any problem when the field names are set correctly. I am using version 3.5.8 on my iPad as well. From the screen shot you did post, it looks like the field names are just not set correctly.

    Cheers,

Khad, here is the screen shot you asked for.

Please note I have tried it exactly as you have shown with the "user" field changed to a standard field (blank) ( which causes only the password to be entered - leaving all other fields blank) and also with the "user" field as a normal "username" field (which causes the user name to be duplicated in the timeout box which is what was happening before)

I've found that if I use 1Password for windows(trial) and get it to "learn" the login for this website, then sync with DropBox, then sync the Ipad with dropbox, the login is performed correctly from the iPad. Yet when I compare the Ipad self entered login details with the Dropbox loaded ones (from the PC) they appear to be identical. I've even tried copy and pasting the good detail from the Dropbox login into a new login, but this still produces the original problem of a repeated username in the timeout box.

So to sum up it seems that typing directly into the iPad for this site does something different and wrong compared to importing the login, created on a PC, from Dropbox.
  • Hey, Mike. I'm sorry you are having these issues.

Part of the reason for this inconsistent behaviour is that Mobile Safari on iOS (technically Web View, which is a bit more limited still) has some significant differences compared to, say, Internet Explorer or Firefox: What works in one won't necessarily work for the other.

That was a very ingenious solution you tried with the Windows demo. While we would love for you to buy the Windows version too, though, you really shouldn't have to to get your logins to work on your iPad. We are definitely working on improving the experience there.

But along with browser differences, iOS doesn't afford us the kind of access that we have to the system on, say, a Mac or Windows PC either. This means we are limited in the kinds of tricks we can use to get forms to fill properly on websites. We always strive to improve our apps though, so hopefully we can solve these issues over time.

I am sorry that I don't have a better answer for you right now.

Brenty, I can see where you are coming from with your reply above but it does not completely make sense to me. If 1Password is able to take the login data from dropbox, keep it in the database for "1Password for iPad" and then apply it to Mobile Safari (Web View) CORRECTLY then why is the data entered manually form my iPad into to that SAME database of "1Password for iPad" behaving differently, causing this duplication of "username"? This is surely all happening and going wrong in the 1Password code before it gets applied/entered to Mobile Safari.

    Hi MikeSh,

I apologize for the long back and forth in this thread and that I didn’t bring it up faster. I have already raised this issue up with the developers a short while ago, there are some slight distinctive differences with entering details on the iPad itself and syncing the same Login from the desktop versions. The Desktop version is more accurate than the manual fill. We’re working on fixing this in a future update but I do not have a timeframe on this yet. I apologize for this.

I’m sending you a PM about this issue, please check for it.
