Unable to backup database or upgrade 1Password

VanderGR

1Password is not creating backups of the database automatically or manually. I even tried changing the location of the backup and it still failed.

Also, I am unable to update to the latest version. When I download from either location offered in the update box it reports that it failed to validate the download.

I recently upgraded to a new internal HD and used Carbon Copy Cloner to copy my old drive to a new partition on the new drive. The new drive partition has a different name than my old drive did. Could this have something to do with the issues 1Password is having?

Welcome to the forums, VanderGR. I'm sorry your first post couldn't be under better circumstances.

That is most likely the exact cause of the issue. Not the name of the drive but ownership and/or permissions issues related to such a migration.

Please try setting the backup location to the default:
/Users/username/Library/Application Support/1Password/Backups
Where "username" is your valid OS X "Short Name." Each user in Mac OS X has a full "Name" and a "Short Name" as defined in the Users pane of System Preferences. The short name can contain up to 255 lowercase characters with no spaces. This is the name used to create a user's home directory (also known as the user's Home or Home folder) in the Users folder.

To help us track down the issue more quickly, could you please email us your Diagnostics Report? To generate the report from 1Password on your Mac, open 1Password and select Help > Troubleshooting > Diagnostics Report. Then attach the entire file to an email to support@agilewebsolutions.com.

I tried setting the path as you suggested and still no luck. I also tried setting the path to a separate partition on my drive and to another volume completely and the backup wasn't created on either one.

I will generate the Diagnostics Report and send it in.

1Password has hung both times I've tried to generate the report. The first time I didn't realize it was hung up for more than 30 minutes. How long should it take to generate the report?

In the meantime, I'm going to use Onyx or something similar to repair my disk permissions and do some of the other housekeeping stuff I should have done right after I cloned my drive.

    UPDATE: I fixed the problem.

I opened Terminal and got an error message:
dyld: shared cached file was build against a different libSystem.dylib, ignoring cache
I searched the web and found that I should run
sudo update_dyld_shared_cache -force
Once I did that and rebooted the data file would backup, I could update to the newest version of 1Password, and I could create the diagnostic file in about 10 seconds.
