  • Hi Lewys,

I'm sorry for the trouble here, the error message 1Password for Android is displaying seems to suggest that the hidden .ws.agile.1Password.settings file is no longer in your Dropbox folder.

Are you using 1Password for Mac or Windows on your computer, as in which version created your original 1Password.agilekeychain file?

    Please let me know,

    Hi Lewys,

Sorry to hear about your issues.

The message you are having says precisely that 1Password for android failed to find a 1Password data file inside of your Dropbox (setting file not found).

Please make absolutely sure that you have a .ws.agile.1Password.settings file in the root directory of your Dropbox.

The file .ws.agile.1Password.settings is created by 1Password for Mac/PC immediately after you place your keychain inside of your Dropbox.

The file is hidden, so please ensure you have a "Show hidden files" option turned on.

If the file is actually present, try to sync again, sometimes Dropbox server is busy processing other requests and can return File Not Found error even if the file is actually here.

In this case, waiting several seconds and syncing again usually solves the problem.

Please let me know if you need more info.

    Best regards,

    Gene

    The file was indeed missing.

Is there a quick way to restore it? I checked back through DB, and there was simply nothing to restore, for whatever reason.

The only way I could figure out how to get it all working properly again, was to export all my passwords etc. and then create a new data file, and import all the data from the previous data file.

This seems a little long winded.

    Anyway, it's all fixed now.

    Hi Lewys,

I am glad your problem has been resolved.

The hidden file .ws.agile.1Password.settings is created by 1Password for Mac/PC immediately after you place your keychain inside of your Dropbox.

Not sure why this file was missing in your Dropbox, 1Password for Android simply complained that the file is not found and the application cannot figure our where exactly to look for your

    1Password keychain (datafile).

Probably when you created a new keychain and placed it into the Dropbox on your computer, the file was regenerated and next everything ran smoothly.

    Best regards,

    Gene

  • I'm having a similar problem:

1password can't find my keychain on dropbox.

I do NOT have a file that looks like this:

    .ws.agile.1Password.settings

I have a file that looks like this:

    1Password.agilekeychain

I am using Mac (latest version of 1pw)

I'm also having the master login issue written about in these forums.

I've done 3 clean installs today, and it's getting tiresome.

    please help.

    Hi twli,

Sorry to hear about your issues.

If you have 1Password installed on your PC/Mac and specified in Settings to keep your 1Password data file inside of Dropbox (as most users do),

the hidden file .ws.agile.1Password.settings should be instantly created by 1Password in the root directory of your Dropbox.

The file .ws.agile.1Password.settings is a hidden file (make sure you have "read hidden files" option turned on)

located in the root directory of your Dropbox. It is created by 1Password for Mac/PC app when you use "Store your keychain inside of Dropbox" option.

The single purpose of this file is to show where 1Password.agilekeychain (Agile Data File) is located inside of Dropbox.

On my Mac I have just one line in this file "1PasswordSync/1Password.agilekeychain", you should have something similar to this on your computer.

Please recheck your 1Password for Mac/PC configuration and contents of your Dropbox folder.

In addition, please install Dropbox for Android application (freely available on Market) and try to access your Dropbox folder.

Make sure that .ws.agile.1Password.settings is available in the root directory of your Dropbox.

I'd like to say once again that the file .ws.agile.1Password.settings is instantly created by 1Password for Mac/PC once you specify an option to keep

your keychain (1Password.agilekeychain) inside of Dropbox.

Therefore, in this case, your 1Password data file(1Password.agilekeychain) should also exist in your Dropbox directory and path to it is written in

.ws.agile.1Password.settings file as a single line.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

    Thank you and best regards,

    Gene

thanks, can you tell me how I do this: "(make sure you have "read hidden files" option turned on)"

I don't see this hidden file turn on option anywhere on dropbox web server, or my dropbox desktop, nor on 1p android or 1p desktop.

Please give me advice on how to show hidden files.

    thank you.

    - Tw

PS - 1p on my mac is this: Version 2.12.1 (build 7671). My Mac OS is this 10.5.8

When I check for updates, it says I have the latest, but I see others saying they are running version 3. I'm confused about these versions, and is this way i can't get my phone to sync with using dropbox?

    Hello twli,

In order to see hidden files on your Mac please follow the links

    http://www.mactricksandtips.com/2008/04/show-hidden-files.html

    and

    http://www.macworld.com/article/51830/2006/07/showallfinder.html

In addition, the best way I suggest is:

On your computer, Goto Dropbox.com site, enter your username and master password.

Once you login successfully, you will see all files and folders in the root (topmost) directory

    of your Dropbox.

If 1Password settings file .ws.agile.1Password.settings actually present in your Dropbox, it will be instantly visible to you.

If the file is missing, I suggest you to contact Agile customer support team and explain the issue, our customer representatives

will be glad to assist you in solving the issue.

    Best regards,

    Gene

Is there no quick an easy way of recreating the '.ws.agile.1Password.settings' file?

I found a solution that worked for me, but involved exporting all my passwords, and then creating a new Agile keychain and importing the passwords to that new keychain. Surely there must be a quicker way of doing this; which could then be used as a solution for anyone else experiencing this problem.
  • It doesn't seem that 1p is actually ready for android yet.

    Hello twli,

I am very sorry to hear that.

1Password for Android is in active development, new version with totally different UI is going to be released in the next few weeks.

In addition, the stand-alone version of the application is going to be build with ability to add/edit secure items on the phone and two ways Dropbox

sync. There are many exiting things in the pipeline, please stay tuned for the updates.

There are currently more than 40K customers using 1Password on Android phones, I receive valuable feedback from them every day and try to address their issues

and concerns. Please also forward to me all your suggestions on how to make 1Password for Android better, which features are most desirable for you.

    Thank you in advance

I just looked at my .ws.agile.1Password.settings file in my Dropbox root and all it contains is the name of your 1Password folder.

e.g. if your folder within Dropbox is called "1Password" then this file will contain just that.

    Simple really!

    Hello djh,

You are absolutely correct, the purpose of the tiny hidden file .ws.agile.1Password.settings is to show 1Password application where to find your 1Password keychain

    inside of your Dropbox directory.

The file contains just one line: the path to the 1Password.agilekeychain file, and nothing else.

The file is automatically created by 1Password on your computer when you decide to place your keychain inside of Dropbox.

    Best regards,

    Gene

  • Just a quick post to let you know I had the error too while installing the app on my Android: "Cannot find 1Password setting file .ws.agile.1Password.settings in Dropbox directory (Reason:404-FileNot Found)."

For me, simply unlinking Dropbox within the 1Password preferences on my Mac (Lion) and immediately after that linking it again fixed this. It seems the first time I linked it to Dropbox the .ws.agile.1Password.settings file was not created. Works perfectly now!
  • Hi uzar,
