Roboform import

Now you've finally made a Windows version (yay) I'm reassessing whether to switch to 1Password. Your product excels on Mac (which I use at work) and I have iPhone and likely soon iPad. I've been using Roboform for what 6+ years? And my decision, similar to many other people in my position, must be worth something like £100 to you, more over subsequent years.

My first task is to import all my Roboform data: 450 logins, 150 safenotes, 1 identity. It seems like there's no export/import for identity, so that's out for a start?

Otherwise it seems the best import/export mechanism is to export on a PC since Roboform doesn't exist for Mac, but import on a Mac, since the PC version of 1Password doesn't understand folders or putting SafeNotes into Secure Notes.

Is that right?

I'm on v1.0.4.173 on PC and 1Password v3 on Mac.

  • Welcome to the forum, Pharkie!

Actually, 1Password for Windows can correctly handle a single level of folders, assuming you set the corresponding option during the import process.

You're right, though, that 1Password for Mac has more robust and complete import capability, including an option to import Roboform SafeNotes, so only your identity will have to be created from scratch in 1Password. (I'd do that part on your PC, so you can simply copy from Roboform and paste into 1Password for Windows.)

Note that "export" in Roboform is actually "print to HTML." You'll need to do it once for your Passcards and once for your SafeNotes. Instructions are provided in the Import Assistant built into 1Password for Mac.
  • Hello,

I just switched over from Roboform to 1password. I noticed that in the html/print export from Roboform in the url's the http:/www is not added. You have to klick on the ad full url box in the export. So don't forget as I did.

    Regards,

You're right—it's important to follow the instructions in How do I import data into 1Password for Windows? in the FAQ section of the user's guide.
