USAA Fill Login doesn't work
<div class="IPBDescription">bank site has problems</div>Hi Agile guys,
I've been using 1P for a few months now, and I like it a lot. One thing that bugs me, though, is that it doesn't work with one of my bank sites. That bank is USAA at usaa.com. Whenever I choose to Fill Login, it fills in the right info in the two fields, initiates the login... and then fails.
Not sure how I can help you guys to debug this without you having a test account to successfully log into, but if you think of something, let me know.
Thanks for the great app,
-Nick

Hi Nick K,
Have you tried to manually save the login? Follow the below quoted procedure to do that.
Sometimes web sites don't play nice with 1Password. Banks and other secure web sites seem to have this issue more often based on comments I've seen from the Agile team. I don't have an account at usaa.com, but I tried with some dummy information and it seemed to work for me.

Some sites have logins like this that occasionally do not work right in 1Password. Luckily, they have a way around this by using the Save Login... feature. Follow these steps:
1. Open Firefox or Safari (these are currently the only supported browsers for this feature).
2. Fill in your login credentials, but do not submit the form.
3. Click on the 1P menu.
4. Choose "Save Login..."
5. Edit the login item how you would like and save it to 1P.
6. The next time that you go to the site it will fill in all of the fields in all browsers.
If this still doesn't work, you can try one other trick. Go into the 1Password app and edit the login item for usaa.com. In the edit screen you will see a section called "Submit", change this to "Never". 1Password will never auto-submit this login, but it will fill in the credentials. You then have to click on the login button.
Post here if you have any questions and I am sure that the Agile guys will get you going.Flag 0 -

Were you able to get this to work on USAA after following Fooligan’s instructions? it should work.

Hi everyone. Unfortunately, I was not. I created a new Login which contains just the username and password and deleted the original auto-created one, but it gives me the same error. I know that the u/p are correct because when I copy them out, paste them into the appropriate fields and press "Log On," the login works correctly. But no love from context menu > 1P > Fill Login > USAA. (The domain is correct too, or else I wouldn't get a populated Fill Login menu.)
Any other ideas? <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_sadsmile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-(' />Flag 0 -
Sorry to hear that Nick,
Can I just clarify, when you use the Fill Login context menu, your login details are filled, but you're told that they're incorrect by the USAA site? If so, as you mentioned in your first post, this could be difficult for us to fully test without an account there.
I don't know if you tried this as well as saving the login manually, but could you edit the saved Logins item to have a Submit value of "Never". Some login forms have code in them that sends extra information when you click the login button manually, and it's possible that this isn't happening when 1Password performs the auto-submit.
I'll also ask around my online friends in the US (I'm in the UK myself) to see if anyone has a USAA account they could test with for me.
Thanks for your patience on this Nick, I'm hopeful that we'll find a solution for you.

I don't have an account at this web site, but I did test the fill function with "Submit" set to "Never" for that login. Both fields filled correctly, so I would assume that manually clicking on the "Log In" button should work.Flag 0 -
Well, yes, that's what we'd expect, Fooligan, the problem is that no matter what credentials we use, because we don't have accounts, we'll always get a 'Incorrect password' message.
From what I understand, Nick isn't having a problem with his details being filled in, but instead with the result aft they're filled by 1Password.

I have a USAA account. It was one of the first ones I set up before I knew how to use 1Password, so I had screwed up by entering it manually in 1Password. I deleted that one and created it through the browser, and it works fine, even with autosubmit. I am testing it in Windows/Firefox at the moment since I'm on the PC.
I'll try to attach a screenshot of the login.

Thanks for posting that, Jim. It likes like autosubmit is enabled for your USAA login. Does autosubmit work fine on the USAA site for you?
In Windows with Firefox, it does autosubmit. I haven't tried it on the Mac yet.
I click on the URL in 1Password OR click on USAA in the 1P Go and Fill menu. Firefox goes to the URL. Then I have to do Ctl+\; it fills in the fields and then submits automatically and goes into the site.
It seems I have to hit Ctl+\ with all of the sites in Windows, but not in Mac. I'm not sure if that is expected behavior; still kind of new with these programs.
So Nick, maybe you can check and see if your login looks like mine, field names, etc.

Thanks for the update, Jim!

Right now 1Password for Windows does not support Go & Fill from within 1Password, but it should work in your browser.
We are working to minimize differences between the Mac and Windows versions. In fact, were were just discussing that very topic around the ol' water cooler a moment ago. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

I hadn't tried this. I did just now, and I get the same behavior, which is really confusing.
I should have stated this at the beginning: I am using Safari on a Mac. I tried it in Firefox and I get the same behavior regardless of the AutoSubmit setup.

I'm glad it's working for some people at least!
Let me know if you think of anything else I should try.

You didn't mention if your login looks the same as mine. I assume the field names are particularly important. Here it is from the mac version, where it also works. It is in edit mode; of course my actual username/password are whited out.

Hey Nick,
It wasn't immediately clear to me whether you had manually re-saved the login from within Safari. Let's take it from the top. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />
Please try saving the login manually in Safari like this:
1. Enter your username and password, but DO NOT submit the form.
2. Click the 1Password button in your browser's toolbar, and choose Save Login.
3. Set the Action field drop-down menu to Replace <login-name>
4. Click the Save button.
Using the above technique I was able to save and fill a sample login in Safari at:
https://www.usaa.com/inet/ent_logon/Logon
Manually saving a login can be useful for logins that are either problematic to begin with or were once working but have since stopped. Doing this allows 1Password to refresh everything it "knows" about the page. Login pages often change as websites are updated and this can be a necessary but very useful tip. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />
If you are still having trouble, please try editing the login to change the Submit value from "If Autosubmit is ON" to "Never" works on a lot of sites which modify the form before submitting it or are looking for a literal key press or mouse click. This will give you the chance to actually give them what they are looking for by submitting the form yourself rather than allowing 1Password to do it on your behalf.
I hope that helps. Please let me know.
Thanks!Flag 0 -

Ah hah! This worked for me. I didn't actually know about that mechanism. I was creating the login entirely manually using just the 1P and copy and paste.
Thank you very much!
That said, though, it would be great if you could figure out why this manual approach works, but the "save after submitting" approach doesn't.

Thanks for letting me know that worked for you! That is great news.
Saving a login from within the browser allows 1Password to grab all the necessary field names from the source code of the login page. Sometimes a site will modify a form after you click submit, so manually saving the login in that manner can be a great help. We always recommend creating logins within the browser in order to have the most accurate results. There are no standard field names and 1Password tries its best to gather the correct information directly from the page if you let it. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />Flag 0
