where is data file
I recently had to delete my old mac user account and create a new one. When I start 1password in the new user, it gives me the option to find the existing data file. I am concerned it got deleted <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />.
Anyways, I still have the data on my Iphone. Is there any way to find the existing file? Can I get the file out of my Iphone into the mac?
Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forums, P1ayne. I'm sorry you are having this problem.
The easiest solution will also enable syncing between your Mac and iPhone. If you still have access to your old OS X account, please log in to your old account (where your 1Password data currently resides) and set up Dropbox syncing.
Once you have Dropbox syncing working in your old account, you can install Dropbox in your new account, wait for it to finish syncing, and then launch 1Password. 1Password should automatically detect your data in your Dropbox folder.
I hope that helps. Please let me know!
Thanks for the help. But I have Wifi sync enabled on the Iphone. Will not all the data there just populate a new data file I start over with on my Mac?
Yep. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_bigsmile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-D' />
I too would like to know where the keychain data file is stored as I have a major problem following the latest update and would like to retrieve the data file from a previous date using Time machine
Please quit 1Password and Start Time Machine. Within Time Machine navigate to
Home > Library > Application Support > 1Password
and look for the file 1Password.agilekeychain there on your Time Machine. Select it (one click), but do not launch it (don't double click on it).
Now we need to restore it. Click on the gears thing in the Time Machine "Finder" tool bar and select Restore ... You will be asked where you would like this restored to. The location to restore it to is
Home > Library > Application Support > 1Password
This time it be placed where it belongs in your real Home and not in Time Machine.
Once you have done that navigate to that restored file in its real location (not on Time Machine) and double click on it. 1Password will ask you if you want to switch to using this data file. Say "yes".
After this, everything should be working fine, and you will be able to save changes to your data.
Please let me know if there is anything else I can help with.

Thanks for the reply. I tried to follow your suggestion and I have managed to install a new copy of the latest version. However when I look at the logins there is only one there!!!
I tried going to preferences and asked it to use a different file I tried to point it to one of the backups in "libraray:application support:1password:backups" but all the backups are greyed out.
It is beginning to look like I am going to have to re enter all my loginsFlag 0 -
chas3,
I'm sorry for the trouble here, the 1Password backups can't be directly opened like a regular 1Password.agilekeychain file, instead you need to use the File > Restore Data File from Backup option and select the relevant backup and click 'Restore Backup' to retrieve your data.
Hope that gets you up and running again.Flag 0 -
No problem at all, chas3, glad you're up and running.
We're currently looking into why some users have been experiencing data loss after the recent update, it hasn't affected everyone, so it seems like it could be a combination of a few factors.
Do let us know if you have any further issues.Flag 0 -
Getting the data file out of iphone and into the Mac using Wifi Sync did not seem to work. My 1password on Mac did not change with all the data from 1password on the Iphone. Is this a one way sync from Mac to Iphone? Is there a setting I am missing?
Thanks.

That's very strange, P1ayne, the Wi-Fi sync is a two-way process, so the data in 1Password for iPhone should sync to 1Password for Mac without any issues.
Could you try restarting 1Password for Mac and then setting up the Wi-Fi sync process again to see if this gets things up and running.
Please let us know how it turns out.

Ahhhh! Now it worked. Resetting the wifi connection within 1password on the iphone worked. Then I had to re authenticate. I am back in business! Thanks.

That's great news, Luiz, glad resetting WiFi syncing did the trick <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />
Happy 1Passwording... wait is that even a term.... well it is now <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

I think I'm one of the people suffering from this latest update as no matter what I do I cannot seem to access a usable 'existing data file'.
On launching 1Password it now asks for 'New Data File' or 'Find Existing'.
If I go down the route of accessing the 1Password.agilekeychain_folder and clicking on a file I get the 'Invalid Data File' pop-up saying incorrect or damaged file ?!
If I go down the route of 'New Data File', after putting in new details I get 'A data file exists in the default location' which suggests a backup will be created on continuing but I just get 'Unable to move existing data file'
And I can't seem to find a 1Password folder in Library > Application Support to manually move or delete it.
Very confused and frustrated as I have a recent update on my iPhone which I don't know how to get back to my 1Password for Mac.

Welcome to the forums, 1nomad. I'm sorry that you are having this problem.
To help us track down the issue more quickly, could you please email us your Diagnostics Report? To generate the report from 1Password on your Mac, open 1Password and select Help > Troubleshooting > Diagnostics Report. Then attach the entire file to an email to support@agilewebsolutions.com.
Please include a link to this thread in order that we might more quickly "connect the dots" when we see your Diagnostics Report in our inbox.
Please do not post your Diagnostics Report in the forums, though.Flag 0 -

I'm having the same problem. Apparently, a recent update to 1Password has locked me out. I get the same message: Invalid Data File, no matter what I do. I can't access 1Password at all. Thanks for any guidance you can provide.

Hudson,
I would recommend you follow khads advice in the post above yours and send in a diagnostic report to the team.Flag 0 -

having the same issues -- I cannot use 1Password at all. Getting the following error message: Data File 'file://localhost/Users/jojod/Dropbox/1Password.agilekeychain' is incorrect or damaged. Please choose another file.
We're also unable to get 1Password to work on my boss's computer (same user ID etc).
Thanks,
