Hello,

I've been using 1password on my mac and iphone for a long time now. I've synced to Dropbox.

I just got an Android and tried using 1password on it. I selected to sync with Dropbox and I get an error that there isn't a 1password file there.

What do I need to do to fix this?

thanks!

  • Hi biggeek,

I'm sorry for the trouble here, 1Password for Android requires you to have the hidden .ws.agile.1Password.settings file in the root of your Dropbox folder, which then points to your actual 1Password.agilekeychain file.

This is usually created when you setup Dropbox syncing using 1Password for Mac, providing you're using the latest version of 1Password 3. Could you tell me the version you're currently using by going to 1Password > About 1Password from within the main 1Password application?

    Please let me know, thanks!

    Hi biggeek,

Thank you for your interest in 1Password for Android and welcome to the forum.

As it stay today, 1Password for Android is designed as a 1Password Data Reader and works together with 1Password for Mac/PC.

It works as a vault providing functionality to store/review the data on Android phone and synchronize the phone with Mac/PC through Dropbox Server.

Therefore in order to see your secure data on your phone you should have 1Password application

installed on your PC or Mac first.

If you don't have 1Password installed on your computer, you can easily download it from Agile website http://agilewebsolutions.com/downloads.

Once you have the application installed on your computer, you can place the 1Password data file inside of Dropbox

and will be able to synchronize your secure data with your Android phone.

You can find detailed information on Agile products on our company website and review the 1Password for Android application help.

Please let me know if you need more info.

    Best Regards,

    Gene

    Hi Stu,

I'm using 3.5.2 on my Mac. I have it syncing to Dropbox already. In Dropbox there is a dir named 1Password.agilekeychain which was created by the 1password app.

I also had this working perfectly with the iPhone app, syncing to dropbox.

    thanks.

    Solved it myself.

So it looks like the Mac version never created the .ws.agile.1Password.settings file.

I just now installed the windows version on a Win7x64 machine.

    It created the file.

    Android version now works.

    Hi biggeek,

I am glad that your issue has been resolved.

When you configured 1Password on Mac you probably did not place your data file into Dropbox.

That is the only explanation I have for not having settings file in the root directory of your Dropbox.

Anyways, I am glad that you find a solution for your problem.

Please stay in touch and share with us your suggestions and observations about 1Password for Android and other Agile products.

Thanks, but I want to be very clear here.

I have been using the MAC version for roughly 2 years.

When you came out with the Dropbox sync option I used it from the beginning.

I also was able to use my iPhone version which was using the sync function.

As far as the data in Dropbox, I never ever ever had that .ws file. Only a Dropbox folder.

So I installed the Windows version, copied the 1password folder from Dropbox to my Desktop.

I made sure the Windows version opened. THEN I told it to sync to Dropbox. IT then created a .ws file.

So my point is, the Mac version didn't create it, becasue ( and this is just a theory) when I was testing this out I manually created a 1password folder in Dropbox, and pointed the Mac version to Dropbox. This was way back in the beta testing days.

    Just an FYI.

    thanks.

I think that makes a lot of sense, if you had Dropbox syncing back in the beta days it's possible that the .ws.agile.1password.settings file was never created, though it should have been with future updates.

Your solution to move the file from Dropbox and then back again using 1Password for Windows was what I would have probably suggested, but using the Mac version which in 3.5.9 has the same 'Move to Dropbox' option.

If you're still running version 3.5.2 on your Mac, please make sure you update to 3.5.9 by going to 1Password > Check for Updates as we've added a lot of new features.

Sorry for the delay in responding to you previously, things have been a little crazy around here.
