Security Questions suggestion

So I've been reviewing various threads about 1password and password resetting/recovery security questions and I'd like to offer a suggestion of how they could be handled in 1password. The questions are not used as part of the usual site login procedure, but as 'backdoors' to allow the owner to reset or recover a password. (There are other uses of such questions, as well as site logins procedures that require more than one 'password'... but for the suggestion, I'll limit my suggestion to just reset/recovery security questions).

Basically, I suggest a method for storing sets of user-provided questions and answers with logins/accounts. I'd to be able to cut-n-paste the question from the login site to the login entry (via the 1Password application) and then generate a strong password for that question which I'll cut-n-paste into the login site. The answers would basically be handled within the 1Password application as passwords. That is, they would generally not visible but copiable.

While it would be cool if 1Password browser plugin could provide integration (detect the questions/answers in the HTML), I don't see such integration as being necessary. Cut-n-paste is good enough.

As far as workarounds go, the two ones I see kind of suck. One is use separate entries to hold questions and answers as usernames and passwords for each of the sites which have them. The other is to use Notes on the site's Login entry. But this won't hide the answer.

    Welcome to the forums, kdz!

    Thanks for the feedback. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

This is the current solution and has the added benefit of filling and submitting with a single press of ⌘\ on your keyboard (like all Logins). Of course, you can always save the elements as additional fields in the main Login item for a site if you would rather manually copy and paste them.

We are also considering custom templates in a future release, so it sounds like we will have you covered one way or another. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';-)' />

I hope that helps. Please let me know.

    Cheers!
