Can I delete settings file?

<div class="IPBDescription">.ws.agile.1Password.settings on Dropbox?</div>Once 1P is all set up and syncing via Dropbox, can I delete the .ws.agile.1Password.settings file from Dropbox?



If the answer is no, can it be moved into a folder in Dropbox?



I am still in awe how nicely this system works, 1P on multiple computers/devices and Dropbox.

Hey Jim,



The [font="Menlo"].ws.agile.1Password.settings[/font] file is needed for Drobox syncing and cannot be moved or deleted without breaking syncing. 1Password for Mac (and Windows) will recreate the file on launch anyway, so it would unfortunately be a losing battle.



It is a pointer file that lets the mobile apps know where your data file is in your Dropbox folder. You can store your data file anywhere within your Dropbox folder that you like. (Mine is buried at least three subfolders deep.)



The file is hidden by default in OS X and other Unix-based operating systems (since it begins with a period), so I hope it doesn't cause you too much distress. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_worried.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':S' />

Thank you. I guess the only reason I saw it is I have my system set to show hidden files.

That's right, Jim, if you've got OS X setup to show hidden files, you will see the settings file.



As Khad mentioned, this is just a pointer file, and without it the Dropbox sync process would either be much more complicated or limited to storing your 1Password data in a specific Dropbox folder.

in my dropbox folder there is a file .ws.agile.1password.settings sitting out in the main folder. Is this the proper location for that file. Is it required to be outside of the 1Password folder. Just wondering because I am trying to clean up and organize my folder structures and this seems like a stray place for the file to be. Thanks
