Start new but still be able to get to old

After years of importing and exporting from various systems, my password database is a mess and has a lot of sites no longer used. I know how to start a fresh database but after I do that can I switch to the old one if I've forgotten something in the move? Is it as easy as renaming the files?

TIA

  • I could be wrong, but I think it's just a matter of directing 1Password to the database (keychain) you want to use in the Preferences.

Instead of starting fresh, why not duplicate the current database, then start deleting the obsolete stuff? No need to throw out the baby with the bathwater.

Jim, as always, you're an absolute legend, thank you for being so helpful.

dkendrick, Jim is right, it may be better to duplicate the existing data file and start cleaning it out, but if you ever need to access your old data file again it's just a case of actually double-clicking the .agilekeychain file to tell 1Password to use this as your active data file. Of course, don't forget to switch back to the new one after you're done <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

Gee, guys <blush>. Actually I'm used to forums where a response from someone in the company is as rare as hearing the voice of god, and the only way people can get help is from each other. You guys have insanely great customer service, keep it up.
