Javascript error upon upgrade

<div class="IPBDescription">problems with upgrading</div>After upgrading to 1Password 3 I have experienced two very exasperating problems. First, upon launching Firefox 3.6.15 on my desktop Mac 1Password presented me with a javascript error and an offer to take me to this forum where there is a topic on this. I can't find the topic, and now 1Password is disabled in Firefox. How do I fix this?

Second, upon upgrading 1Password on my MBP I am unable to unlock it as it no longer accepts my master password. I have never changed it so I know I'm using the correct one, and this is confirmed in my Keychain. I have tried restoring from a previous data backup, but it still won't take my password. What's up with that? Do I have to blow off years of saved passwords and start all over again? I'll try restoring from Time Machine later.

Any advice available to either problem?

Thanks

  • Hi ubisububi,

First of all welcome to the forums, I'm really sorry your first post wasn't a happier one.

Your upgrade experience to 1Password 3 isn't a typical one, and so I'm sorry that you've run into so many issues along the way.

This sounds like it could be an issue with the Firefox extension, and so the first thing I'd suggest iscompletely uninstalling the Firefox extension and reinstalling it:

    1. Make sure Firefox is not running.

    2. Launch 1Password from your /Applications folder

    3. Click 1Password > Preferences > Browsers

    4. Uncheck the box next to all versions of Firefox

    5. Launch Firefox and click Tools > Add-ons > Extensions. Make sure that 1Password is *not* listed.

    6. Step #5 is the most important step so I'll repeat it again here <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> Launch Firefox and make sure 1Password is not there.

    7. If 1Password is appearing in the Extensions window, click the Uninstall button on the 1Password extension and quit Firefox.

    8. Return to your 1Password window and check the box next to Firefox. There are two versions: 3 and 4. Pick the one that you have installed.

    9. Restart Firefox and click Tools > Add-ons > Extensions. Make sure that 1Password is listed.

After following these steps, the Firefox extension will have forgotten everything about previous versions and should work correctly.

We certainly don't want you to throw away any of your data, and in most cases your data should move across with the upgrade. To help us track down the issue more quickly, could you please email us your Diagnostics Report? To generate the report from 1Password on your Mac, open 1Password and select Help > Troubleshooting > Diagnostics Report. Then attach the entire file to an e-mail to support@agilewebsoltuions.com with a link to this forum post so we can link the two messages.

Please don't attach your diagnostics report here.

Thanks Stu, with your help I have fixed the first issue and 1P is working well now. I'll attach a diagnostic report from the MBP as soon as I can as I'm still at work ATM.

Edit: I completely uninstalled and reinstalled 1P on my MBP and the master PW works now. Thanks. I'm not sure what the cause was, but apparently there was something that went awry.

    Thanks again for your help!
  • Slightly off-topic, but maybe useful… 1P 3.5.9 appears to work as flawlessly in 10.6.7 as it did in 10.6.6. Thanks, Agile!

I'm glad everything is working well now, ubisububi! On behalf of Stu, you are quite welcome! <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

I'll let it slide. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Thanks for that confirmation, Mark! Even if it "Works For Us" it is good to hear that out users are not having any trouble either.
