Linksys/Cisco Router login?

Any idea why 1Password isn't saving the login for a popup window on a Cisco (linksys) router? The login window is attached, it's generated from https://router.somewhere.net:3456 - just a straight popup, if I fill in the admin login and password and hit ctrl-\ and choose "save login", I get "1Password cannot find a login on this page" - any ideas, or am I SOL? Thanks in advance.

  • John, welcome to the forum!

Without seeing the HTML code "behind" the login window, it's hard to tell what might be preventing 1Password from recognizing the fields.

As an alternative, please launch 1Password and click the +Login tool. In the Login dialog box, type the exact https://router.somewhere.net:3456/ URL in the Location field, and type your username and password in the corresponding fields; then click the OK button.

Then try the various ways to use the new Login:

In 1Password, select the new Login, and click on the URL in the Location field.

In your browser, visit the login page, and press Ctrl+\/

In your browser, click on the 1P button, click on the Go & Fill Login button, and choose the new Login.
If none of those work, you can still use the auto-type functionality included in 1Password for Windows, as described in the user's guide.

I hope that helps, John. Please let us know how it goes!
  • Thats probably not a HTML login form, but a htaccess login window (in Firefox).

1Password for Windows currently doesn't support HTTP authentication.

    See: http://forum.agile.ws/index.php?/topic/3549-1password-mysql-server-problem-with-htaccess
1Password for Windows does not support HTTP authentication (yet), but there's a nice workaround:

    1. Launch 1Password

    2. Locate your Login item (you might want to press Ctrl+F)

    3. Press the Auto-Type button on the toolbar
My router (with DD-WRT firmware) also uses HTTP authentication. I can confirm that only auto-type works.

    Thanks for that info, Pazzie!

    That's why I also mentioned auto-type, above:

If none of those work, you can still use the auto-type functionality included in 1Password for Windows, as described in the user's guide.

John, please see the user's guide for complete instructions on using the two variations of auto-type that are available.
