Going from old OS to Snow Leopard

I have used 1Password in the past on my last computer. I've now upgraded to an Intel based computer running Snow Leopard. I went and loaded the latest version of 1Password before I learned how to move the keychain information over as shown here: http://help.agile.ws/1Password/switching_macs.html

Now I don't have the Setup Assistant showing up so how do I get the old passwords into this new version?

I hope this is what you are wanting if you were not running 1P v2 Prior please post back etc and see if we can help. I am providing this as you said upgraded to an intel Mac which may indicate you were using 1P2 previously

Here is how to fix this problem:

    1. Drag your existing copy of 1Password application to the Trash.

    2. Download and then install 1Password 2 from

    https://agilewebsolu...loads/1Password

You need this old version of 1Password to migrate your data.

    3. Open 1Password 2 and select 1Password > Preferences > Keychain menu.

    4. Click on "Switch to Agile Keychain" button and follow the instructions.

    5. Click "Create New Keychain"

    6. You may see many "Always Allow/Deny/Allow" prompts. Make sure to click Allow or Always Allow for each item.

After that you can download and install 1Password 3:

Make sure to move the old copy of 1Password to Trash before installing the new version.
  • Thank you so much for your reply.

Yes you are right I was not using 1P v2 on my last machine. I am trying to update from v1.

Does anyone know how I can import that keychain?

    Version 1? Jiminy. Are you sure? <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Do you still have access to the old machine?

If so, please try this on your old Mac:

Download 1Password 2.12.1

Run 1Password 2 and verify all your data is present.

In 1Password 2, select 1Password > Preferences > Keychain.

Look at the button at the very bottom. If it says “Switch Back to OS X Keychain”, then you are using the new data format and can proceed to step 5. If, however, the button says “Switch to Agile Keychain”, please click that button and follow the instructions. You may be prompted for access to each item; in this case, please click Allow or Always Allow for each one.

Quit 1Password 2 and any running web browsers.

Follow the instructions in our "Setting up a New Mac" guide
