Massive keychain file
in Mac
I've recently been having issues syncing my 1password.agilekeychain file with Dropbox (this has work successfully for a couple of years!). I can no longer open 1password at all - it just stalls during start up. I decided it might be having problems reading the keychain file so decided to copy the file off Dropbox. I then discovered to my horror that the 1password.agilekeychain file is 1.25GB. I don't know about you but this doesn't sound right to me, I'm sure in the past it was only a few hundred KB.
Does anyone know how or why this file could have become so bloated and how I can get it back to it's slim, quick0syncing self?

I don't know if this would help anyone here but if you are on the curious side you could launch the 1Password > file > restore from backup feature and look thru the list and see if you see a large change in the amount of items being backed up.
If you havent seen the restore screen before this is what it looks like.
**At this point I would not restore any previous versions/keychains until support has a chance to look at your diagnostic report**

Oh dear, I seem to have killed 1Password.
When I looked at the package contents of 1Password.agilekeychain in Dropbox I noticed it contained thousands of conflicted files. I copied this 1.73GB file to my desktop and then cleared out all but the newest versions of the files from Dropbox (getting the keychain folder down to 300kb).
When I launch 1Password it asks to set up a data file or link to an existing one. Linking to the Dropbox one yields an error saying that the file is corrupt or damaged, linking to the backed-up keychain file on my desktop results in 1Password not responding.
I'm completely stuck!Flag 0 -
OK, I seem to have fixed it (for now). The errors seem to coincide with the installation of Firefox 4 and generating 2 user accounts so that I could run Firefox 3 and 4.
I have managed to restore 1Password from a back up file (a relatively normal 7MB), replaced the 1Password.agilekeychain folder in Dropbox and updated Dropbox to the latest version.
I'll keep an eye on things but for now all looks OK...Flag 0 -

Dropbox now looks like it's in the process of deleting around 90,000 (yes ninety thousand!) files. I also haven't seen any conflicted files appear in the newly created 1password.agilekeychain folder in Dropbox. So, fingers crossed it's now all fixed.
I'll keep you updated of any changes and thanks for your help.Flag 0 -
It looks like I am a little late to the party, but I am glad that it ended well. (I only see one stain on the rug and all the smokers stayed outside this time. I can smell the difference.) <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
Keep an eye out that this does not start happening again. Please ensure that you are using the very latest version of Dropbox as I recall some older version(s) had some issues with creating conflicted copies if not connected to the network for "longer" periods of time.
This should obviously not be a regular occurrence. You might receive better support from Dropbox on this one if it does act up again, though, since 1Password itself does not create the conflicted copies but rather Dropbox does.
Of course, please feel free to seek help here as well. I don't want to discourage you. You just might have a better chance of getting Dropbox support from Dropbox. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />
We are always here to help, though!Flag 0
