• Hi lahgeek,

First of all, welcome to our forums, please do make yourself at home <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

We're always looking into potential new sync solutions for your 1Password data, however before we implement any solution there have to be a few things in place from the cloud service in question. Mainly this is the need for a reliable and secure mobile API that we can integrate with our iOS, Android and Windows Phone 7 apps, it looks like Box.net do provide this but we'd have to take a detailed look to see if this would meet our needs.

The other issue is a more fundamental one, any cloud storage service we support has to support the storage of OS X bundles, which is the format we use for the Agile Keychain in which your 1Password data is stored.

That doesn't mean we're saying no to other solutions, but we are small team with limited development resources and so each new solution we support requires time to research and implement. For now, our focus is on making sure Dropbox syncing is reliable for all users, which we're pleased to say that it does.

Thanks for your feedback, it's good to know what services our users would like to see us support in the future.

After this today http://techcrunch.com/2011/06/20/dropbox-security-bug-made-passwords-optional-for-four-hours/ could you please consider adding box.net integration?

    Welcome to the forums, Daniel!

Thanks for adding your vote for Box.net syncing. I don't have anything to announce right now in that regard, but I get the impression that you might be interested in the thread about cloud syncing security.

If we can be of further assistance, please let us know.

We are always here to help!
  • Hi khad,

The link in your post above is no longer available.

Do you have any update on syncing with Box.com (formerly Box.net) or the thread / article you previously linked to if that's still relevant?

    Kind regards

In short, Box.net does not offer a sufficient service for 1Password's needs. If I recall my post in that now defunct thread, they don't offer a mobile API, support file bundles, or actually offer syncing without a business account (only storage).

The original thread was also addressing concerns about Dropbox. Please see our blog post on this topic for the most complete information:

    http://blog.agilebit.../dropbox-terms/

    Importantly:
Dropbox does two things that no other system (yet) does. It provides the necessary programming tools (APIs) for all of the platforms that we support: OS X, Windows, iOS, Android, and Windows 7 Phone; and it provides syncing to truly native filesystems on the Mac and PC.

The short answer to “Have you considered X as an alternative sync solution” is “Yes” for every value of X that people have asked about. We have considered them, and have had to reject them for various technical reasons.
• I see this option was made available to me today (https://www.box.com/download-box-sync/?email=%253Cspan%2520class=eloquaemail%253EEmailAddress%253C/span%253E)

I am guessing the API is open for integration now?

I would love to have the choice between Dropbox and Box.

    Thanks!

    Welcome to the forums, Jason!

It's possible they changed things dramatically, but so far only Dropbox is technically suited for syncing 1Password data across all the required platforms. You can read more details here:

Thanks for the vote and head up, though. We'll take a look at it. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
