Version 3.1.3 upgrade crashes 1Password - downgrade options?
I just upgraded from 3.1.2 to 3.1.3, which immediately rendered 1Password unusable. Once I enter my password, 1Password now crashes immediately with the following message:
NSInvalidArgumentException .....incomprehensive archive ......;(
Has anyone had any problems with this upgrade? If you haven't upgraded yet, I suggest you not do so until it's confirmed that the problem is with my installation and not with this version upgrade.
Anyway, I sent the problem in to Agilewebsolutions, but their automated confirmation states they'll look into this and get back to me in a few days. So.......
In the meantime, does anyone know how to downgrade to a previous version?

Hi opaekaa
If you wish to downgrade then quit 1P, then move the 1P app in your applications folder to the trash.
Download the version you wish to use from here http://agilewebsolutions.com/products/1Password/versions
Install as usual and enjoy.
As for the email one of the team will email you back or they may also post a reply here as well.Flag 0 -
Welcome to the forums, opaekaa!

We're basically the same people who answer both e-mail and forum messages. The advantages of posting to the forums are that our friendly moderators who only respond to forum messages may be able to answer more quickly than we can via e-mail and others can benefit from the discussion, as well. In general, we respond to e-mail messages within 24 hours, often far more quickly than that.
I think Tommy has answered your question, but please let us know if you have any others.Flag 0 -
I did get an email response and followed through with the suggestion to delete the 3.1.3 application and re-download and install. I got the same error message. So I downgraded to 3.1.2 using the same method above and it worked!
So I don't know if it's my system or if it's a problem with 3.1.3. But the bottom line is that, if you try 3.1.3 and you have problems, it's very easy to downgrade to a previous version. Thanks to the 1Password guys for helping me out with this!
One more thing - I didn't know the forum support guys were the same guys as the guys who respond to 1Password website support requests. So it looks like this is a better venue than online support, then? At any case, the response was way better than the initial confirmation response suggests (days where actual was a few hours).Flag 0 -
Glad you got things sorted out, opaekaa. I wonder what it is about 3.1.3 that is causing the problem. If you have a few minutes to spare, would you mind trying the 3.2 beta to see if you experience the same trouble that 3.1.3 caused? Our betas are public and generally very stable, so there is no risk. As well, it's just as easy to downgrade from the beta back to 3.1.2 if it doesn't work out for you.
To install it, run 1Password and click 1Password > Preferences > Updates, enable the option to include beta versions, then click the Check Now button.
Thanks for your help!Flag 0 -
Gita, I upgraded to 3.2 beta. Not only did my 3.1.3 problem go away, but my 3.1.2 problem with Safari 4.0.5 losing its 1P icon also went away! So I'm back where I was before I upgraded to 3.1.3, thanks to your help.
FYI I did respond to your request on another thread with the info you requested:

That's fantastic news! I'm really not sure *why* this update has fixed the problems you were experiencing because, to my knowledge, there were no changes made that would have had that effect. But, well, sometimes strange things happen with software. I'm just really glad to hear that all is well now, and hope that it stays that way.
Thank you for updating the thread, opaekaa.Flag 0
