Key does not work

I moved my copy of 1password (Mac) to a new computer. The registration key did not transfer so I requested a copy of my key from Agile and received the key via email. I copied the key and used paste to enter it in the license key blank. I get a message that it is not a correct key. I have tried to enter it several times with the same result. Since there does not seem to be a help desk at Agile I have not been able to resolve the issue. I am running the latest version of 1Password and Mac OS.

Any suggestions?

  • Hi, bkalister,

I'm sorry for the trouble here, we do have a 'helpdesk' available, you can contact us via http://agilewebsolutions.com/contact_us which will come through to our support e-mail.

If you can include the key you received we can check this to make sure everything is ok, it may be possible your license is only valid for 1Password 2, but we'll be able to check that for you.

Please don't post your key here or send it as a private message, it's much easier for us and you if we receive this via our contact form or via a direct email to support@agilewebsolutions.com

    Thanks,

You should be able to open your 1Password in demo mode and recover your 1Password key from the 1Password Keychain.. Agile puts in their card in the Software section and in Logins as a hint to use it to store your registration. Search your back email and your can recover the email/receipt unless you dump your email to trash..not good. If you used the migration tool to transfer your data from the old Mac to the new Mac, that information would have transferred. Your 1Password keychain file is in your User>Library >Keychains>1Password.keychain. Go to your old Mac and copy this file to your new Mac. I use DropBox and keep a copy of my 1Password Keychain to share between all my Macs and PC's. If you are a MobileMe user and directed your 1Password BackUps to your Data or Documents folder, you can restore 1Password from a Backup. Your old Mac has your 1Password Backups are located in User>Library>Application Support>1Password>Backups. Hope this is of assistance..

Always remember that you can call Mac Tech support at any time and they will assist you with anything at any time. That phone is 800-275-2273. Register your new Mac here https://supportprofile.apple.com/Login.do After doing this, when you call Apple Support the phone system recognizes you and puts you through directly to an Advanced Tech Support person.

I can not put the program into demo mode (at least I can't find a way). When I open 1password it starts as the full program. I have the key from both the software section and via the internet "lost pass word." Both the software section of 1password and the recovered password are the same. I copied each in turn and pasted them into 1pass and got the same result - "not a valid key." I believe my key is for the latest version. I also tried entering the key through another Safari and got the same result.
  • Thanks for the helpful suggestions, shirtpocket!

B, I have replied to your support email. It appears that Jamie had responded to an earlier email you had sent us, but it was returned as undeliverable. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />

I hope everything is working for you now. Just let us know if we can do anything else to help! <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
  • Thanks everyone for your suggestions. The problem was solved by the folks at 1Password when they sent me a web address to automatically entering the key. The key sent was correct and I don't know why I couldn't load it but all is well now.

I'm glad to hear that everything is working for you now. I suspect it was a name mismatch. I ran into this problem myself a while back. Because the key is generated based on the name, if you change it later on, they will not match. For example, my key only works in conjunction with the name "by," even though I am listed as "brent young" in our systems now. That still gets me from time to time. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

Sorry for the inconvenience. I am happy that it turned out okay, though. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
