Knox vault after a crash

Hi All,

I recently had my hard drive crash. I was able to make a back-up of my documents folder, but I was distracted and did not specifically open my Knox vault and copy the files. Two questions: 1)where does the Knox vault reside ( I am hoping that it is in the documents folder)? and 2) what is the extension I should look for to see if I have it.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Mike Smith

Welcome to the forums, Mike. I'm sorry to hear about your hard drive failure. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_sadsmile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-(' />

Fortunately, it sounds like you grabbed the right data. The default location of Knox vaults is in the Knox subfolder inside your Documents folder. The file extensions are .sparsebundle for 10.5+ compatible vaults (the default) and .sparseimage for 10.4 compatible vaults. If you did not change the default location, you should be all set.

Please let me know how it turns out. I strongly recommend a good backup solution for the future!

    Thanks Khad,

I was able to find the file in my back-up. It is what I needed. Thanks for your help.
