Have key and downloaded 1 PW, says I have trial version, besides that I cannot get it to work from the tool bar, it is there but when I clik on it to fill in the info it opens the program up. Any advice or tricks that I missed here. Thanks

    Hi, Jerry.

As noted in your earlier topic, Trial option, you just need to launch 1Password, choose Help > Enter License Key, and paste in the key we sent in the confirmation e-mail message. That tells 1Password to stop reporting itself as the trial version.

Clicking the 1Password button in your browser's toolbar displays the UI for the 1Password extension. To open the 1Password program, just find it in the 1Password folder in the Windows "start" menu.

As for how to use 1Password and the browser extensions, we ask that you take a few minutes to read the Introduction, Getting Started, and Tutorials sections of the user's guide. They're short, and they'll give you the information you need to get up to speed quickly. As you use 1Password for Windows, we believe you'll find the FAQ section to be a useful resource, too.

I hope that helps, Jerry. Let us know if you have any other questions!

If you haven't created a 1Password keychain yet, then clicking the 1P toolbar button in your web browser will launch the 1Password stand-alone program. The reason it is doing this is because without a 1Password keychain, the browser extensions cannot do "their thing". You have to create a 1Password keychain, or open an existing one.

Thanks, Stefan. I didn't know that about the browser extension button launching 1Password if no 1Password data folder has been defined.

    Is that new?

On a related note, I assume this is possible only in Internet Explorer, as you'd have to define a data folder to get into 1Password to enable the extensions for Firefox and Chrome. Correct?

Thanks for your patience, you got me on the right path, I need to read more! I hate to ask another question, as I was working on the other problem I kept having to enter my PW Key, I set it for 180 min in the panel, just wondering if I can do something about it(more reading). Looks like I got off on the wrong foot here, I have 1PW on my imac and have no hitches, so I know how great this can be.

I'm glad that helped, Jerry! We think the user's guide is a pretty useful resource, and the forum is always here, if you have a question.
I hate to ask another question...
Generally, we ask that you start a new topic when you have a separate question—it just makes the forum a better resource for folks coming in with related questions.

Please see Why is my 1Password data locked? in the FAQ section of the user's guide. The "Global unlock" subsection contains information about the new "leave extensions unlocked" option that may be of interest.

I guess I just did things in the "right" order and never saw what would happen if I didn't. Thanks again!
