Synch between 2 mobile devices without Mac
Comments

Hi Lizard,
Thanks for your purchase of 1Password for your iPad and iPhone, and I'm sorry for any confusion here.
At the moment it isn't possible to sync your iPhone and iPad's 1Password data without using 1Password for Mac's Wi-Fi syncing or by using Dropbox syncing which must first be setup using either 1Password for Mac or Windows, both of which are available as a free-trial from http://agilewebsolutions.com/downloads and once you have one of these apps setup you can follow our Dropbox setup guide here:
http://help.agile.ws/1Password3/cloud_syncing_with_dropbox.html
If this isn't an option there is a solution to allow you to transfer your data between the two devices, but this is by no means intended as a sync solution and is primarily designed as a backup service. If you'd like to give this a try you can find more details in our user guide here:
http://help.agile.ws/1Password_iPad/sync_multiple_devices.html
We hope to improve this in future, by allowing users to setup Dropbox syncing from within the iOS applications themselves, but this isn't quite as simple as it may sound as our iOS applications and desktop apps use a different data format at the moment.
Hope that helps,

I recently purchased 1Password for iPad and iPhone. Is there any way to synch the data between the 2 devices? I tried doing a backup on the iPad and restoring on the iPhone, but it doesn't show my data. I have a PC, not a Mac, and I don't have 1Password on it.

I just wanted to clarify that you can use the 1Password for Mac/Windows trial version to set up Dropbox syncing, but it is not required beyond the initial set up if you only want to sync iOS devices. We think you will enjoy 1Password on your desktop enough to purchase a license, but you are under no obligation. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';-)' />

I actually figured out the backup and restore, including the 4 digit password gotcha <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';-)' />. I did a restore, it said it was restored, but there's no data on my iPhone.Flag 0 -
Apparently I'm a bit dense. I set up Dropbox using the trial version of 1Password for Windows. Dropbox synched, I got the data on my PC, now I get an error on my iPhone, "file is encrypted or is not a database"
Ok, I killed the database, resynched, now it's all good. Info on all 3 devices now.Flag 0 -
Phew! I'm glad everything is working well for you now. Setting up Dropbox syncing is nice because it is automatic. You won't have to manually backup and restore information from one device to the other as long as Dropbox syncing is set up. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

Hello
how do I copy all my entries from iPhone to iPad? I just read the link you posted here but it just tells me the other way around. But I think most people bought an iPhone first and later the iPad, why can't I find a tutorial for that? I do not have a Mac or dropbox. I use the restore and backup function for years but when I backup from my iPhone it generates this file that I save to my laptop. how do I get this file from my windows laptop to my iPad to restore it there? After so many years, why isn't this much easier? Thanks for your time and help.Flag 0 -
Hello Spectra,
There are various ways to update your iPad with your 1Password data. You do not need a Mac or Dropbox. For instance, there is a 1Password for Windows desktop/laptop solution.
However, since you have experience with the iPhone backup method, and it appears that you would like to get up and running as quickly as possible, I'll just mention the iPhone-to-iPad option.
Presuming you've already backed up your iPhone 1Password data to your desktop, following are the instructions for restoring the iPhone backup to your iPad:
Restoring Data from a Backup

In 1Password on your iPad, navigate to Settings > Data > Backup & Restore to begin another session, which will allow you to restore data from a previous backup.

In a web browser on your desktop computer, navigate to the address 1Password lists (it may be different from the address you used when you originally backed up your data), but this time, select the “Choose File” button to find the backup file you previously saved.

Once you’ve chosen the correct file, click the “Restore” button to restore the information to your iPad. 1Password on your iPad will prompt you to accept the data being restored, and will then reload the database.

In addition, please remember the explanation in the first link that you read stating that the password used in the backup transfers to the new device with the restoration.
Please let me know if you have any problems restoring the file.

Once again, Brandt beats me to it. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
I would also add that setting up Dropbox syncing by installing the trial version of 1Password for Windows and Dropbox on your PC will constantly, automatically keep your data in sync between your iPhone and iPad rather than having to perform the manual backup/restore dance every time you make a change to one.
