Nearly all my Mac software and most of my Windows software runs along quite happily and notifies me when an update is available. I just wish 1Password would do that, too.

It's not as important as other things, of course, which is why I haven't stamped my foot and threatened to hold my breath until I turn purple. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />
  • Chrome and Firefox, for example, both notify you while the browser is running that there is a new version available. Nevertheless, that's a bit off topic - that question has been answered.
  • Totally! I think Stefan's point was that the extensions themselves running within the browsers aren't actually launching the main 1Password application when used, so unless you do so it cannot check. We may be able to change this in a future version, though. Let me know if you have any other questions. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
  • Hmm, it's happening again. I only restarted Chrome yesterday because Flash crashed. No 1Password is unresponsive.
  • What is happening again, Lightwave?
  • Pressing the CTRL+\ shortcut, or clicking the 1Password key icon in Chrome both do nothing. No error, simply nothing at all. Reloading the 1Password extension in Chrome or restarting the browser fixes the issue.
  • I've seen the shortcut fail, occasionally, after a fresh launch of Chrome, but I've never seen the "key" icon fail to launch it...and I've never been able to reproduce it consistently, which is why it's so hard to get it diagnosed and fixed.

I can say that i've seen the same occasionally with the 1Password for Mac extension for Chrome, as well. That makes sense, because 1Password is using essentially the same code for the extension on both platforms.

I'm sorry not to have a more helpful answer for you, Lightwave.
  • That's ok - I guess as long as someone at AgileBits is aware of it. Thanks for helping.
  • Thanks for understanding! Problems we can't reproduce are a real challenge. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/emoticon-0170-headbang.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='(banghead)' />

I don't have any useful information at this point but I am also experiencing the problem where I occasionally have to reload the Chrome extension for it to respond. Well, maybe this is useful: I had been syncing everything in Chrome and use Mac OS as well as Windows until I ran into the following issue trying to troubleshoot this one today: http://forum.agilebi...ncheck-the-box/

    I'm running 1.0.8.216 of 1Password and 14.0.835.163 of Chrome.

I'll try to remember to update on whether or not disabling extension syncing matters.
  • Hi, Doug. You really should disable Chrome's built-in extension sync'ing if you're using the 1Password for Mac extension for Chrome on your Mac, too. That extension simply doesn't work with 1Password and Chrome in Windows.
