HTTP Authentication; how to disable?

We used to be able to disable HTTP authentication integration. Since these cannot be auto-submitted, I'd much rather let Safari keychain handle these requests since they are automatic. It looks like the only way to do this is to not use 1Password. Is there some hidden option to disable this like we used to be able to do?

  • Hiya, bubbanc!

There isn't an option to disable this globally, but you can set these on an individual basis by editing the Login item and changing the "Display" value to "Never Display in Browser" so they don't show up when you are trying to log in to the site.

    Let me know if this helps. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Thanks for the follow-up, Brenty. Which login item would I edit? I navigate to server.country.mydomain.com in Safari, click the 1P button and see about 50 entries for different hosts that fall within country.mydomain.com. Do I have to edit all of these login items and this will prohibit 1Password from being the HTTP auth dialog and give me back the old Safari dialog (which has the "remember password in keychain" option)?

I want the Safari HTTP Auth prompt back either globally (this used to exist!! http://help.agile.ws/1Password/preferences_general.html) or via a whitelist/blacklist so I can specify which sites can use the OS X keychain to auto-fill sites that I use may times a day (since Auto-Fill for HTTP auth doesn't work with 1Password).

    Thanks,

    Brian

    Oh dear. I am sorry I misunderstood your question! <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />

Right now 1Password doesn't have subdomain filtering support for HTTP Auth prompts, so this is where you are running into the issue with all those displayed logins. This is something we are looking into adding, but I am not certain if and when that might be.

As for your HTTP AUTH request, I have good news and bad news:

The bad news is that I am a ding-a-ling, and I somehow completely missed this when I looked for it earlier. I guess I just spend too much time staring at preferences and they all blur. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' />

The good news is that we have just the thing you are looking for -- even if I couldn't find it myself either (thanks, Marty!)

Don't feel bad. It took me a screenshot with a big green box to see it, too! <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I hope this helps. If there is anything else we can do for you, just let us know! <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
