Kernel Panics in Snow Leopard
<div class="IPBDescription">Mac is freezing with a black/grey screen</div>Hi,
Since a few weeks my mbp laptop started to act weirdly. I would say it was right after the Mac OS 10.6.7 update, and firefox in the meantime.
I think I have narrowed the issue to :

put the mac to sleep

wake up the mac

go to firefox

go to a URL with saved passwords (in 1password)

open 1password menu then "Fill & Submit"
-> black screen of death.
I'm running a core i7 mac book pro with mac os X 10.6.7 and 1password Version 3.5.9 (build 30884).
I don't know what kind of information I could add.
Thanks

Welcome to the forums, gravis. I wish it was under better circumstances, though.
This is certainly odd, and I don't think we have seen anything like this. Does the issue persist if you disable 1Password in Firefox (1Password > Preferences > Browsers > UNCHECK Firefox 4).
If the problem still exists it sounds like it is unrelated to 1Password. If it goes away when you remove the 1Password extension from Firefox, please try the latest beta version of 1Password and let me know if the problem also exists in the beta. We have made considerable changes to the Firefox extension in the latest betas. To download the latest beta version:

Open 1Password

Preferences > Updates

CHECK "Include Beta versions"

Click the "Check Now" button
Please let me know how it turns out.

Hello,
sorry for the late reply, I did not receive a notification for this topic update.
Anyway, I have installed firefox 5 lately, and 1password 3.6.0 and I still have the problem.
It always occurs at the same time, when I use the 1P button next the address bar.
Weird thing is : if I use the contextual menu (right mouse button) and select a login, I don't crash my computer.
I'm sure it's more related to mac OS X / nvidia issue, but still, I only crash my macbookpro when I click on this 1P button <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />Flag 0 -
This is strange indeed. Does the issue persist if you use the ⌘\ keyboard shortcut? It would certainly be very improbable for 1Password to cause a kernel panic since it does not interact directly with hardware or tie into the OS with kexts (kernel extensions). <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_worried.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':S' />
Are you getting kernel panics anywhere else? Also, please let me know whether or not the issue occurs when you start up in Safe Mode.
To help us track down the issue more quickly, could you please email us your Diagnostics Report? To generate the report from 1Password on your Mac, open 1Password and select Help > Troubleshooting > Diagnostics Report. Then attach the entire file to an email to support@agilebits.com.
Additionally, could you also include a zipped copy of your /Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports folder? If you don't want to send all of it, we'd need the Kernel*.panic file(s).
Try to grab both the 1Password Diagnostics Report and the /Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports folder as soon after the kernel panic as possible. (Right after you restart your Mac.)
Please include a link to this thread in order that we might more quickly "connect the dots" when we see your Diagnostics Report in our inbox.

I was also having Kernel Panics every 10 minutes, and I thought it was my wireless driver, but the last one happened when in Safari 5.1 I went to fill a form. As I unlocked the 1password extension, Black screen Panic.
So I uninstalled the Beta and went back to Stable version, and it's not happened since.Flag 0 -
Thanks for the update, lantrix! I am glad it is working for you now. We will continue to look into this.
This is curious, since with sandboxing an extension (or any other webpage) should not be able to even crash the browser, much less your Mac. If you find anything else, please let us know!Flag 0 -
I've been on release version for 2 days now, and Mac is Solid - no panics anymore.
I can supply crash logs if you need. It was doing panics about 10 times a day, usually when online (and doing password fills).
I also found that my Twitter.app would crash at the same time, system would freeze and then die.
But the thing that made me uninstall the beta and roll back to Stable was the Panic the INSTANT I unlocked the browser extension that one time.Flag 0
