Synch/Access on Windows/MAC/IPHONE?

Hello,

I am new to 1password, the MAC app is unbelievable! I want to add the Windows version & Iphone version, but I haven't seen how to synch up or share the password database between all of these systems?

I did find the dropbox article, but it appears to be outdated, is that still the best suggestion?

I have to be able to use my passwords on a windows machine & also rather not install the app, is there a portable verson? If I have to install the entire 1pass app in Windows, is there something specific I can do to ensure that the install files/data are all in a single folder for the install?

Thanks!

Jake

Welcome to the forums, Jake! I do hope that our Dropbox sync guide is not outdated. I would love to know what needs to be brought up to date if you have any suggestions. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

The short version is that if you have Dropbox installed on your Mac, you can simply click the "Move to Dropbox" button in 1Password's preferences. Dropbox syncing is then set up on your Mac. Neat!

To set up Dropbox syncing in Windows, install Dropbox first, wait for it to finish syncing, then install 1Password for Windows. It will detect your data in your Dropbox folder and start using it. Dropbox will keep everything in sync.

Similarly, in the 1Password app on your iPhone, simply enable Dropbox syncing (1Password > Settings > Sync > Dropbox).

If you would prefer to not install 1Password in Windows, while we don't have a "portable version" of the application (in the technical sense), we do have a feature called 1PasswordAnywhere which allows you to access your passwords in a read-only fashion via Dropbox's web interface.

Not if you want to sync. Your data needs to be in the Dropbox folder or it will not sync. There are hacks to sync files and folders via Dropbox which are located outside your Dropbox folder but they are unsupported, may break things, and may cause your dog to leave you for another owner. Such shuckin' and jivin' is left as an exercise for the reader.

I hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.

    Cheers!
